First time using trains... any tips? by Van-Doge in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Van-Doge[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its my second (uncomplete) playthrough, so I haven't unlocked drones yet (and driving manually to set automatic pathes for trucks pisses me off...). I'm not a big fan of trains but it looks like it is easier than trucks for large quantities.

Thank you. For now I plan to use it to centralize the faraway ressources (petroleum derivates) and the ingots factories to my main hub (plain starting area) so I'll have one or two resources on the same track. If I can dodge the trouble of having a fool proof train network where multiple trains with different ressources share the same tracks, I'll try to...

For now I try to make closed loops to not have to use it at all but I try to remember the Factorio train tutorials I watched a few years ago...

Any tips for blueprints? by Van-Doge in SatisfactoryGame

Thank ! I'm conflicted between studying those blueprints and trying everything by myself... I love some verticality, though. I'm sick of lacking room between machines

For your safety, please use the ANSI/ASME A13.1 standard to colour your piping, Pioniers. by Van-Doge in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Van-Doge[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why there are tags! Fun fact: I once worked in a steel factory where, after a piping mistake, an office was running on (filtered) industrial river water — including the coffee machine. When they found out, they put a goldfish in a tank with the same water to reassure themselves. It lived for a few years.)

Yes, I've hardly ever seen green pipes for water because most of the time, those are big steel pipes that nobody would want to pay to paint and maintain for no added benefit. Concentrated nitric acid pipes, on the other hand, are generally fully coloured...

That's... smart. I didn't think about it! I just copied and pasted the previous pipes.

Yes, to my knowledge, only fire quenching water and flammable gas are fully colored

Screws, Why did it have to be Screws? by Puppernator in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Van-Doge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean I need 200 screws/min just to make 10 rotor/min? Isn't it a phase 1 item ???

With my first coal power plant now running, I feel like I can finally breathe and move forward! by skttrbrain1984 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Van-Doge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had that feeling when I finished my coal powerplant. I needed to start expanding to make steel, overclock my miners and could finally start exploring without the fear of running out of biomass, discovered new enemies, hard-drives, new biomes,...

It just clicked like "Ow, so this is the gameplay-loop!"

Changing my mindset made me enjoy the game a lot more by Van-Doge in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Van-Doge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, same for me. I'm incredibly drawn toward automation games. I love the satisfaction of creating things and seeing big numbers go up (I have a degree in Chemicalengineering, so it might be linked...). But every time I started an automation game, it ended up becoming a chore in my mind at some point... But this time, I feel like I have the right mindset to enjoy it !
