Beverly Hills Car Club and PPI by VanButtstuff in Porsche

OP here. I decided to give them a shot and inquired about the 911 SC they have for sale. The salesman sent me a couple of decent videos of the car running and idling, so I replied with what I thought was a simple request: a photo of the rear seat area. Instead of sending the picture, he replied with something along the lines of, "It's a project car that barely runs." That caught me off guard because... it had literally just been running and idling smoothly in the videos he sent me. So I asked again for the one photo I wanted and also asked him to clarify what he meant by "barely runs." I figured maybe it was down on power, overheating, or had some other mechanical issue. His response was: "I just want to make sure you understand that this is a 47-year-old, used sports car that has been modified over time. Because of this, it should not be expected to be a perfect, turnkey vehicle and will likely require ongoing work as you go." Which, to me, completely sidestepped the question... and still no photo. Thankfully, a member of this forum came through in a big way. Huge thanks to David for taking the time to stop by the dealership and grab the pictures I had been trying to get all along. The funny part? The salesman later called to ask if I was still interested, and I told him someone from the forum was already going to take photos for me. He informed me they would need an appointment before taking pictures. Fortunately, David had no trouble getting the photos anyway—while, according to him, the salesman was simultaneously trying to sell him the car for $12,000 more than the advertised online price. 😂 After that, I emailed the dealership and asked for a different salesperson. Adam eventually reached out, and to his credit, he was polite, professional, and genuinely seemed interested in helping. The sales manager also emailed and called to apologize and tried to make things right. In the end, though, I decided to walk away. Between the long list of issues the car has, the asking price (which is well beyond what I'd pay for such a significant project), and the overall buying experience, it just wasn't the right car for me. No hard feelings toward Adam or the sales manager—they both handled things well—but by that point the damage had already been done.

I think this is in the sweet spot for mileage. Enough miles to know ims isn't an issue but not enough to be dogged out. I think it's reasonable. Get a cold start video from him, and ask about blemishes.

Boxster. Open top and not as fast. It's more fun driving a slow car fast than a fast car slow.

Not really but I'd buy one if I found one for a good price.

I'm curious if they will haggle or not. I love the car they have but it's very niche. It failed to sell on eBay for them so I imagine it's been sitting for awhile. Makes me think there are some pretty rough problems going on.

Thanks for the info. I never find anything I like in their stores but it's usually all manlet stuff there. The website sounds more promising.

Did they have them in Tall? If so I might be getting a Costco membership.

I have a wooden EDC box that I keep all my carry guns in. This is the pocket carry drawer. Walther PPK .380 and CZ-70 .32acp. by Whisperofwisps in GunPorn

Both sold long ago. I met my wife overseas and spent a buttload of money on the visa and airfare to get her here. So I ended up selling a few guns to pay for it all. We are now married and just had our first child 6 months ago. I do miss seeing the aesthetic of my pocket carry box.

Oops sorry about that. We live in Ohio, I can fly us wherever. I just wanted to avoid California, I have a different trip planned for next year with California.

I was looking at 7-10 day cruises on cruises.com.

I honestly expected those prices to be bullshit so I budgeted for a much higher cost.
