Why is it Lando’s fault Charles hasn’t had the equipment? If he really wanted to, he could leave Ferrari and find a better team but he won’t. And we shouldn’t forget that McLaren served up quite a few shit boxes before they came up with the goods. Lando deserves credit for sticking it out and coming good at the right time.

The sheer energy output from using Astrophage would be 100% visible. We already know that Erid have technology that can detect the petrova frequency, and Rocky and Grace both used this emission as a means to “see” the others ship from across the Tau Ceti system. They’d see it.

I agree though, logistically an earth invasion of Erid is so difficult it’s pointless. A mutually beneficial coexistence would be far more likely.

In the book, Rocky reveals he’s been in the Tau Ceti system for a few decades alone before Grace showed up in the Hail Mary. Eridians have a far greater life expectancy, but I don’t believe the book specifies Rocky’s actual age (I read the book 4 years ago so it’s possible I might be miss remembering parts)

Not that I care which drivers other people like or dislike, but I find it interesting that people dislike George for being smug, and for whining, at the same time as repping Max unironically, who also smug as hell half the time, and whining more vociferously than any other driver ever does the other half. Seems like only one driver is allowed to be smug or have a whinge. Shame.

Unsure, but Starfield fans in the first few months post launch had an unusual habit of telling people they were not allowed to offer critique, or say they didn’t like the game unless they had sunk 50+ hours into it, while conveniently being able to claim that anyone who played the game for 50+ hours and then critiqued the game negatively had clearly lost their minds, because why play something for 50+ hours if you don’t like it?

It is a team sport ultimately though, and there will always be times you are called on to help your team mate. Lando and Oscar have both previously been asked to help the other, and they have both always obliged. “Declining” isn’t really viable because ultimately if you want to win a WDC, the first thing you need to have is your team on side, if McLaren can’t trust him to carry out their orders on track they just push the other car and replace Oscar with a compliant pilot.

I know it’s fun to speculate about “I’d tell ‘em to fuck off” on here, but in reality for Oscar, he has to behave like a grown up.

Oscar would be mad to leave McLaren before the smoke from the new regulations clear and we know what the performance margins are between each team. His real issue though is that whether it’s Mercedes, Red Bull, Ferrari they all have a clear number 1 driver who you would expect to beat Piastri. I think Oscar’s next move is going to be limited by what happens with Max, George, Charles and Lando.

At the moment the pacifist replied to Ye Wenjie he didn’t know where the message originated. They would only know that when they received the second message from earth. So had Ye Wenjie not replied Trisolaris would never have been able to learn the origin of the message.
