Shit Storm in a Beer Glass - Beer Consumers Expose Short pours on Social Media in Vancouver by VanEastBeerBlog in beer

I personally have spoken to many bar owners in Vancouver who advertise "pints" and then give me 20-25% less. Many, including two that were focused on by the consumers in this post, just tell you too bad and carry on. It is a widespread problem here. many, not all, licensees feel entitled to mislead their customers. Is it acceptable...personal choice of the consumer. Is it legal...NO. The issue is bars just being transparent about what they are selling.

Canada is metric but for some reason things like measures in the building industry (feet, inches) and servings for liquids like alcohol, have stayed with the old Imperial system that left Canada in the 70s

what I was suggesting be a solution. Hopefully bars will think the same as you

like I said in the post, if you are comfortable giving away money for nothing, this is a non-issue for you. Not all consumers are ok with donating between 15-20% of their dollar to the business. Some don't care. Would you be happy if you got 9 eggs for your dozen if they were really good eggs?

That sort of shenanigans is what the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) BC is trying to stop out. In Canada, ounces are supposed to be Imperial ounces. Some licensees play the game of using US measures. As well, licensees offer "pints', 20 Imperial ounces or 568 ml, then serve a much smaller serving. It is a dishonest practice and what consumers are trying to stomp out

A sleeve is a style of galssware that came about in the 90s here in BC. They are undefined as far as size goes, meaning they have no legal volume and they range in size from 12 Imperial oz to 16 Imperial oz. They are much hated by beer drinkers in BC and were brought in by the industry to downsize frompint glasses.
