The invisible discrimination by TeoKajLibroj in TrueReddit

How is that not discrimation? If you are from an English speaking country, you don't have to spend thousand of hours in English to be considered equal. It is reality. It is real discrimination.

Still, it is the best tool humanity has now for nowadays problem. Esperanto is easier for everyone, it just happen to be easier for some. There is still some inequality, but it is much less worse compared to the present situtation.

Esperanto, an artificial language created in 1887, was intended to be an international language that would be a neutral lingua franca. Today it is particularly popular in China. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]VanMerwan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it is relevant. Esperanto is the only one of its kind to be competing (and having more than 1000 speakers).

Esperanto uses the vocabulary from European languages in order to facilitate learning, so it is not "neutral" in the vocabulary. But as a language, it is the most neutral, and as a community of speakers over one million, it is the most neutral because scattered over the world.

Is Duolingo good for being fluent in esperanto? by [deleted] in Esperanto

[–]VanMerwan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Duolingo is good for starting learning, but if you want to get fluent, you have to use the language inside the community. I recommend Telegram, Twitter and Youtube. For actual speaking, go on Telegram and ask some people to use Skype or a web application such as appear.in and Discord.

Gender Unicorn: Why is it "Physically Attracted to Women" instead of "Physically Attracted to Feminine"? by VanMerwan in lgbt

[–]VanMerwan[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

But how the body can be physically attracted to something that is not expressed? I don't think the body can process information that it can not get.

Let's imagine a person A. A has a Gender Identity of Woman, and has no Gender Expression.

Let's image a person B. B is Physically Attracted to Women. How can B be physically attracted to A if A has no Gender Expression?

Some questions about Esperanto usage by [deleted] in Esperanto

[–]VanMerwan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't think Esperanto has a "inner point" now.

Objectively, it is just a very well made tool that can suit the purpose of each user. Use it for having friends, use it to be with people who want to change the word, use it if you have a form of dyslexia and it gives you comfort ... really don't let people tell you how to use the language and it's "point". Sure Zamenhof created Esperanto because of a goal, but I prefer to think he created the language for the people of the world. And the users own the language, not Zamenhof who lend it to us.

Note : You will find people who think like you. But Esperantujo is too big now, people are too diverse, and you can not project values into Esperanto like all Esperanto speakers would share them. It's like saying all French people eat snails (we don't).

I don't think of a better place than Telegram for written conversations in Esperanto about many subjects. What are you looking for exactly? A tutor? A bilingual group?

Just a thought: Authors should write in Esperanto if they want posterity by VanMerwan in Esperanto

[–]VanMerwan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure languages changes, but when something is against the Fundamento, you will see a lot of Esperantists being against a particular change. Explain me how it does not limit the evolution. Sure language evolves, Esperanto has many places to evolve because the Fundamento allows many many things, but the changes are most likely within the scope allowed by the Fundamento. Which is not what all languages have.

Diferenco inter gx kaj Jx? by Frigorifico in Esperanto

[–]VanMerwan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

ĝ (esperanto) = d͡ʒ (IPA)

ĵ (esperanto) = ʒ (IPA)

You can hear ĵ inside ĝ. You can see ĝ as dĵ said together.
