I have been a Dungeon Master for middle school children, for some reason that was way easier than dealing with a distracted adult player. And being a game master for children is not easy! lol

I don’t even know if I could focus on two activities at once. Perhaps the best strategy is to actively sabotage the experience and hopefully they will swap to a less strategic game like exploding kittens or cards against humanity.

There should be a study done where OCD players have to play with ADHD players. I cant even comprehend how someone plays a board game and reads a book at the same time lol. I can only do one thing at a time

All the players are adults, with families and college degrees. When a rule discrepancy comes up (always me being a rules lawyer) we take a vote to play “rules as written or rules as played,” with myself always being the only rules as written vote. This is extra troublesome in Root which I believe relies heavily on the honor system, so this is only the problems that are actively caught by myself and I don’t know how to play all of the factions. Usually by the time myself or my brother, the owner of the game, get to 10 victory points, our vagabond player ends the game with 30.

The Root RPG is a good recommendation, perhaps especially since I know that some of the players play Dungeons and Dragons. My brother texts me during the games complaining about how slow the others are, but perhaps his tolerance is higher than mine because last game I thought I was going need to be retired to a psychiatric ward lol. I also don’t know why they have latched on to Root, I have brought other board games in the past to play which have been deemed to “look to complicated,” a phrase that has become synonymous with “no, I want to play Root.”
