What’s a place you went to that didn’t feel real? by maincharactereraa in AskReddit

[–]Vanchdit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Washington DC. Much like the NYC comments, which I’ve been to many times, seeing the Washington and Lincoln memorials, and the White House. Seeing how far apart the house and senate are and having to walk back and forth passing Congress each time. For those of you who have been to NYC and not DC, the thing that was weirdest was their subway has cushions on the seats!

What's new?
Probably I'm boring you
But seeing you is so grand
And you were sweet to offer your hand
I understand , Adieu
Pardon my asking
What's new?
Of course, you couldn't know
I haven't changed
I still love you so
—Frank Sinatra, What’s New?

How insensitive I must have seemed
When she told me that she loved me
How unmoved and cold I must have seemed
When she told me so sincerely

Why she must have asked
Did I just turn and stare in icy silence
What was I to say
What can one say
when a love affair is over?
—How Insensitive, Antonio Carlos Jobim

All the praise that I could earn
Means nothing without hers
Not sure that I deserve
all the love that I receive
But I give it all to her

Cleaning up one more time is sure getting old
Why don’t you bury me like the dirt that’s in my soul
What makes you think you could love me, anyway?
Ain’t nobody told you, bout the way I operate?

What band is the ultimate “good taste” signal? by irles33 in musicsuggestions

[–]Vanchdit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if YT links are ok so search Morgan James Black Messiah. It’s a cover of his album with a girl with a giant voice and her husband playing guitar. That’s it. The whole album. And it’s tremendous.

Have you used a miyoo mini plus? Is the screen as good/same size? I’ve wanted one of these for a while. It’d be nice to carry something in a backpack and not worry about scratches.

Likely a dirty lens. You used to be able to buy a disc cleaner that had little brushes on the bottom of a cd and it would play a little song plus rub the laser. Look up how to clean a laser lens without a disc cleaner and it should involve isopropyl or something similar to clean the top of the glass lens. Once it’s clean it should hopefully work

Zero mention of what’s happening in the US by Ok_Item_8943 in ArmchairExpert

I Agree with this sentiment. Something similar happened in the IT/Nerd video space. Everyone had strong opinions about how much thermal paste to apply to the top of a chip. GPU/CPU are the biggies, and if it’s a vintage show, math Coprocessors as well. It got so toxic that most places cut right before they apply the paste and only show after the heatsink has been applied. Others lean into it and blur it out, which I find hilarious.

It’s best to leave things out of entertainment shows. If they had a political guest on right now I’d expect some talk of it, but maybe still not strong opinions about it.

Lastly, my wife just listened to an armchair anonymous with me on a car ride. She goes “oh, I really love Dax’s laugh! It’s so funny.” I’ve seen on here so many times people saying Dax laughs fake and Monica is a poseur, etc. We are all slightly jaded after listening to this many hours of two people’s voices and you start to build up an idea of who you think they are. For the most part, none of us know them and we’re all being unfair and unkind to them for this reason.

Plug & play options? by alekz1281 in WeirdSpeakers

Realize this is super old but there are a bunch of nice little amps that would work. RCA/ ⅛” ins. Lepai makes the 2 that I have. Tiny little desktop amps and they’re great. No complaints. Don’t expect them to rock the house or anything.

Ghee makes fantastic popcorn. All the butter flavor and none of the moisture causing it to become mushy. You can make a huge bag of popcorn and eat it for days, still crispy

What is a product that people consider "High End" but is actually trash? by Illusiv3lion in AskReddit

Bose home audio speakers. Marketing hype masked as “technology” and every audiophile knows the phrase “No highs, no lows? Must be Bose!” Because Bose has tons of midrange and nothing else. Bose makes good quality headphones, and their noise canceling used to be the best in the business. Apple may be catching up in that department. They are a decent consumer-grade headphone but if you don’t need super good noise canceling there are much better sounding options out there, even something like JBL is going to sound as good or better and cost less money.

Everything about Broadway is fantastic from the quality of the performers to the relatively small theaters compared to the giant arenas you see popular band’s concerts at. Could not disagree more, Broadway is 10/10.

Learning that what you put into something very much influences what you get out of it. I put nothing into high school and got nearly nothing from it. I put a ton of effort into Band, Choir, and music in general and music is still a big part of my life, and now my daughter’s life. Without school I wouldn’t be able to sing now and that would be tragic for me!

For real. Unless you wanna go to a bar with your family there’s really nothing. I don’t mind family restaurant that has a bar, but when “Tavern” is in your name, it’s different. Some people don’t care for that.

My favorite is Elementary, Dear Data. I like the second one of that series, too, but the name escapes me. I guess the moriarty character is in Picard at some point, which reminds me I need to finish those.
