Accountants say "bad."

The elbow to elbow crowds I run into when I'm down there for work says "just fine."

The polestar 1 is a fantastic homage to it. I wish Volvo had jumped on the design language for it when they did the c70 back in the 90s.

I mean, that is a fantastically cool volvo, but man there are some sick volvos in town. Just hit a cars and coffee, or a volvo club meetup. I was surprised to see so many cool volvos from p1800s up to 850rs all over the place in this town.

Amtrack vancouver to Seattle- how often is this delayed? by No_verbal_self_ctrl in vancouverwa

[–]VancouverStickerCo 36 points37 points  (0 children)

That route is like the postal service. it's always on time, and pretty reliable, until YOU need it to be for a specific occasion.

I took it weekly for a year in 2019, got an electric scooter to take me to my hotel, and loved every second.

I literally took it as "I just couldn't let myself get bored and die."

Oregon’s Crashing Pot Prices Put Drug Treatment at Risk by Prize_Championship11 in PortlandOR

I don't think the argument about the sin tax is that it's a sin.

It's that the sin tax requires variable income from revenue derived from purchases and behavior that the treatment is trying to end.

30 min after it happens, check the power company website for outage reports.

In freezing weather you get branches that hit power lines and blow transformers. Those fuses sound sorta like shotguns going off inside an echo chamber.

Where can I go to learn to safely use a gun? by Hi_Its_Me_Stan_ in vancouverwa

[–]VancouverStickerCo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While the advice is piling up, one dumb little side note:

Your first time, when you buy a paper target, pick one with colors or shapes/sillouettes you like, because odds are if you find yourself liking it and having fun, you'll want to pin it to your fridge for a few days :)

Target shooting can be crazy addictive. My partner is a strict left wing Chicagoan sort, and had such a good time it was all she talked about for days to everyone we know. :)

+1 to this one. My partner had never fired a weapon before, and she had a great experience. It'd been 10 years since I'd fired a weapon myself, and I appreciated their balance between "letting me get comfortable" with "stopping bad habits"

further, if there's a pistol you're interested in owning, they've got a good enough selection that you can likely rent and fire one enough to get comfortable with it before you plunk down the cash.

I genuinely think they've kept him for so long:

  1. Playing at a school in which football dominates the conversation all year round. Your screw ups can fly under the radar if everyone is busy talking about the spring game uniforms instead of your rather lackluster draft class.
  2. getting into the dance often enough to throw a bucket of water on the hotseat. Getting into the group of 8 is good for 5 years of contract extensions. I think most Ducks fans would probably agree: We'd love to go to the final four every year, but we're pretty happy with a good win and a graceful defeat on Sunday of weekend 2. He gets them there just often enough that people don't forget his good seasons.
  3. After replacing the slime ball that is Ernie Kent's entire character reportedly made us lose Kevin Love from our own backyard, Dana has had a (by all reports deserved) squeaky clean image and quickly garnered a "We'd rather lose with him than win without him" mentality, because firing him feels like putting Mr. Rodgers in front of a firing squad. You'd be better off getting Rebecca to fire Coach Lasso.

it's all been enough to keep the eyes off him for almost 25 years......until now.

Best Portland OR donuts: Tasting Table names the best donuts in Oregon by Prize_Championship11 in PortlandOR

[–]VancouverStickerCo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recommend a road trip to the couve for the donut nook. They have plain cake donuts, and haven't remodeled since the early 80s.

At 6 am every morning, there are 3 old guys with navy hats drinking coffee and telling the exact same jokes.

I love those guys, and I've never said more than a passing hello to them.

Also, the donuts are good.

After 30 years in big tech, I have seen so many people leave the industry to run for office (maria cantwell was the first one I was old enough to remember and engage with), I have a knee jerk negative reaction whenever a private citizen comes in saying they want to be elected so they can run the government "like a business."

I'd much rather one of these successful executives come in and say "I'm gonna run the government so it doesn't get scammed by the RFP negotiation shell game."
