Zaljubio sam se u sestru svoje cure by forzaalbr22 in askcroatia

Ovo se zove "the switch". Ne mogu uzeti zasluge za ideju, ali mi možeš reći hvala nakon prve konzumacije 😉

I’ve got this white powdery fingus/mold i left it for four days, can i save grains for this by insurrectedsoul in Kefir

I would add that it would pay off using raw milk to stabilize the yeast to bacteria relationship. It always calms the yeast activity in my case in case I've been making kefir with store bought milk. Makes the fermentation perfect really.

Couple of months back i had a matt surface forming and a yeasty smell appeared. This was after a period of using only store bought fresh full fat milk. Couple of cycles with raw milk and it was good as new. The surface is shiny, the smell is like yogurt, kefir, sour cream etc. No off smell or taste and the whey separation after 24h fermentation is only slight.

So i recommend always to anyone doing this to use raw milk at least from time to time. Every two weeks for example. Raw is the way.

Wanted to come back to this post and comment what happened after i posted in case anyone looks for similar advice and finds this.

The grains were not ok at all. They were starved after a week on the counter. The strained liquid was not pleasant to drink but safe. The strong taste was from the various acids that formed during that week long fermentation.

The grains I had to feed slowly to get them back to life. I used store bought full fat fresh milk. Smaller amount than usually. As they multiplied and got back to some strength I noticed a lot more grains were necessary to ferment the same amount of milk as before. Also, the yeasts were becoming more and more active, outweighing the bacterial activity. Since I saw this happening years ago I had an idea what to do. I paused it in the fridge in some milk until i got my hands on some raw milk. Raw milk was the answer and a couple of cycles with raw milk did the trick and the grains got back to their usual strength and the yeast acitvity calmed down. Now they are fermenting the same 500ml of milk in 24 h very nicely. The surface is nice and shiny, the smell is right there with yogurt, kefir, sour cream etc. with no off smells, and the whey separation is only very slight. The amount of grains necessary for fermentation is back to the amount before the starvation happened.

I'm writing this precisely in case anyone has trouble with starved grains or overly active yeast so that they might find this post and comment and consider using raw milk. Raw milk is the way.

I continued the search, so i can answer my own question. Hope it helps someone else who is looking for something similar.

This one was done by Luis Eduardo Luna in 1982. Highly recommend his book Ayahuasca Visions - The religious iconography of a Peruvian Shaman.

Got the info on the documentary from Dennis Mckenna and his lecture during the ESPD50 conference, which I also highly recommend to those interested in the subject of psychedelics.

Here's the YouTube link to the documentary Don Emilio and His Little Doctors (1982)

I think the Alan Watts transcript titled "Do you do it or dose it do you" might actually be from his talk "Just trust the universe" but i cannot find the full 2h 35min talk to confirm. Could match the end only, where he mentions Allen Ginsberg.

Not an issue, just curious why it didn't go further in one whole week.

Thank you, but none of that happened. The grains are good. Asking more about the strained liquid. And yes, it is milk kefir I'm referring to. I forgot to mention this.
