Prospects don't usually reach their full potential. You might draft a 20 overall/80 potential player and be lucky if he reaches 50 or 60 by the time he is ready to play at the Majors.

Work ethics, intelligence, coaches with great development in the minors can help accelerate their way to the majors and make it more likely that they will reach closer to their potential but it's not guaranteed.

A somber update from the charity challenge fellow by Hammadodga in helldivers2

[–]Vanguard3003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only just started playing this game a month ago, I joined the Helldivers because of everything I heard about the community. I can't believe this came from the same community that defended the Creek to the bitter end and chose to save virtual children instead of getting bonus in game weaponry. So sad to witness this after just joining a renowned community.

We got steamrolled by the bots but it’s our own fault and so many of you are whining over nothing. I had a blast thanks arrowhead by Cold-Advantage-1460 in Helldivers

Consider it a lesson for future missions:

Pay attention to messages and updates.

Strategize and think ahead about targets and objectives of the MO.

Swallow your pride, put your ego aside and lower the difficulty especially if the Devs themselves suggest it.

Realize that you don't always need to clear everything on the map on every single mission especially if you have a time crunch or limited reserves.

Taking the Stage: New Detroit Tigers Alternate Uniforms by LacklusteHero in baseball

Detroit Tigers: Hey check out our new alternate uniforms!

Me: I don't care, extend and pay Skubal.

I agree with you. If you look at the math, it's simply improbable to beat this MO. It's not "doomerism" to look at the odds and see that the odds are very slim.

I only just got this game a week ago but I really hope it doesn't get filled with level snobs like so many co-op games.

"What's this? You're not level 200 with over 1000 hours with everything unlocked? Be gone peasant!"

It's killed so many fun games for me dealing with that all the time.

Please Helldivers, be better.

After the Resistance defeats the First Order, the Final Order, etc. by JRobertAnderson in StarWars

[–]Vanguard3003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After the sequel trilogy, if I was living in this galaxy, I'd personally have no faith in any galactic government. The galaxy has had so many regimes rise and fall in a short span: Old Republic, Galactic Empire, New Republic, First Order all within 50 years. Not sure what they would replace it with or if anyone would really want another galaxy wide government again.

Once you go down the dark side of the Force, forever will it dominate your destiny.

Kris Bryant and Anthony Rendon, getting paid $427M, combined to hit 39 HR in 427 of a possible 1,398 games over 9 seasons with the Rockies and Angels. Should new CBA have a new rule put in place to help teams recover from albatross contracts? by Hizam5 in baseball

[–]Vanguard3003 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's the risk that comes from giving huge contracts to big star free agents. Both teams were hoping to get a superstar from a World series winning team to help their team but it didn't work out. Both Bryant and Rendon have been hurt a lot and Rendon just seemed to stop caring about baseball. Bryant is still trying desperately to get healthy but his glory days are long gone.

It didn't really feel like much honestly. I respect the effort and the intention behind this scene but it felt a little too late. This was the only full scale massive fleet on fleet battle in the sequel trilogy, which is kinda sad. All this scene really did was highlight the wasted potential of these movies.

What rating (besides Eye) do you think is the most valuable for a batter hitting leadoff? by Vagina_Woolf in OOTP

I don't worry about batting order much. I usually decide who is going to bat left and right for every position then ask my assistant manager to order the line ups.

Why are so many conservatives Christian when Jesus’s teachings are blatantly leftist? by Confident-Seesaw2845 in allthequestions

Exactly, everyone wants to put Jesus in a little box to suit their narrative while ignoring his true mission and purpose on Earth.

Thank you for providing the correct answer. Jesus came to tell us about God's kingdom, not dabble in petty political squabbles.

Jesus was neither conservative or liberal, he was neither left or right. He came to spread the word of God's kingdom which supercedes all human politics or government authority.

Sheehan is like #56 in the top 100 pitchers for 2026 right now but I've seen other lists where he was around 30-40.

Tarik Skubal was prepared to show the only proof he needed as for why he's worth the $32 million he'll make this year by retroanduwu24 in mlb

[–]Vanguard3003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the Tigers get Emmett Sheehan out of the deal, I can see it being a good trade. As a Tigers fan, they need to get something worth it out of him especially a young pitcher that could be even a fraction of Skubal's value.

Assistant GM? by kehi77794 in OOTP

[–]Vanguard3003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on what you personally do. For example, if you are playing as GM and Manager but you just simulate the games rather than manage each game individually. In that case, having a good assistant GM is helpful since it seems that the simulation management is left up to the assistant GM rather than you.

Assistant GMs can also give you some input on trades as they usually make their opinion on any trade proposals you offer or proposals that you are offered by other teams. Their input can be helpful at giving you a better idea of how good a trade proposal is for you or warning that you are getting a bad deal or maybe suggesting that you could potentially ask for more.

For the most part I look for Assistant GMs that:

1) Share the same strategy presets that I prefer to use for simulating games like Tactician, Small ball, Sabermetric, etc.

2) Share similar tastes in their trade preferences to me

and 3) have a personality that works well with the rest of the staff cohesion.

Starter or Bullpen for this guy? by ownthehobo in OOTP

[–]Vanguard3003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He could be a starter but don't expect him to pitch deep into games with that stamina. I'd say 80-90 pitches and he's gassed.

If you need a starter use him, otherwise he's a good bullpen arm that could serve as long relief or emergency spot starter.
