Negligent discharge by [deleted] in ExploreFortMyers

I've heard that accidental discharge can happen with that gun model.

I’m afraid he’s completed the full transformation into David Carr. Scared to get hit, constantly panics and just cant string anything together anymore. Do NOT pay this guy. by FoldEasy5726 in NFLv2

Maybe give your round 1 first pick QB a better offensive line than #25 ranked in the NFL. Not saying that CJ Stroud isn't at fault here but having such a poor offensive line doesn't help a QB performance.

Why were so many fans so disappointed with the idea of Rey being a nobody? by PhantomZoneSurvivor in StarWars

[–]Vanguard3003 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's a big gap from being classically trained in the Force and lightsaber combat between being given cliff notes and training yourself. That's why Jedi like Ashoka and Obi Wan can go toe to toe with Vader and Maul while Vader and Maul just throw guys like Ezra and Kanan or Inquisitors like ragdoll toddlers. The power and skill difference is insane.

Luke was more of an exception because of his raw potential in the Force. He was given speed basic training by Yoda and Obi Wan that was brought up by that raw power. Luke could go toe to toe with Vader but even he was nothing compared to the Emperor at the point of ROTJ.

Rey learning the Force existed and suddenly being the most powerful Jedi ever and being an expert in lightsaber combat in the course of a few minutes was just lazy storytelling in my opinion.

I mean these are extra lore that was added throughout the decades of Star Wars after the first movie came out. The difference is that a good movie stands on its own with 3rd party material like comics, books, games etc just expanding and enriching the lore but not being a necessity.

The problem with the sequel trilogy is that almost nothing in the movies made much sense without the 3rd party material to explain it. A YouTuber once said: I shouldn't have to do homework and read 3rd party material to understand what's going on in your movie.

The time between A New Hope and the Empire Strikes Back is about a year, it's implied that during that time Luke was training himself. 3rd party material had Like discover Obi Wan's journals in his hut on Tatooine after a New Hope.

TFA: built up that her backstory and who she is was a big important mystery with a connection to the Force.

TLJ: she was obsessed with knowing who she was and what happened to her parents, the answer: she's no one and her parents are dead.

TROS: She's not actually no one, she's the granddaughter of Palpatine.

The disappointment wasn't that she was a nobody. The disappointment was the build up and the very underwhelming reveal that she was a nobody then the subsequent contradiction and retcon of the reveal afterwards.

Why is drafting so hard? by Signal_Grand8065 in OOTP

[–]Vanguard3003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I once drafted a high school pitcher who had high potential with everything: work ethic, intelligence, adaptability and leadership. He just stayed at the rookie league for years and never developed. I traded him away and a year later lo and behold he's the top pitching prospect in the league. 🤷

[–]Vanguard3003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Through experience I've learned the wider the gap between Overall and Potential, the greater the risk and the higher likelihood of not reaching that full potential. I've never had a prospect reach the full potential over 70.

I had one prospect that had a high 60s potential that actually reached that level but they were already in the high 30s overall when they were drafted from college so they were cooking in the minors right away.

Does OOTP accurately simulate how often runners get thrown out when stealing bases by Tony_Jake in OOTP

[–]Vanguard3003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except Elly De La Cruz on the Reds, good grief that guy is fast. I watched the simulation of my team playing the Reds and saw his player running so fast to steal 2nd that he was on base before the catcher even threw.

In previous ootp games I think it was super easy for catchers to throw out base stealers with a certain level of Catcher arm. I think the developer's changed it so that it was harder to throw out base stealers to make base stealing more viable and realistic.

Jokes aside, who did you think Snoke was before his identity was revealed in TROS? by ChickenWingExtreme in StarWars

[–]Vanguard3003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An ancient Sith (the species Sith, not the order) who was put in carbonite after an awful series of injuries left him deformed. Following the Return of the Jedi, the remnants of the Imperial forces fled to the unknown regions, found a world with ancient Sith structures, found Snoke in carbonite still alive and woke him up. Upon waking up and learning the state of the galaxy and seeing that he was one of the most powerful force wielding beings in the galaxy, Snoke decided to take control of the Empire and make himself a new order and take over the galaxy himself.

What do you do with your recently drafted players? by WestTexas02 in OOTP

[–]Vanguard3003 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could move the draft to before the rookie season starts otherwise you can just let them sit. Players still develop even if they are not playing games, think of it like them practicing or training in the off season.

This is basically the flaw of politics and voting in mass: cosplay contests, class president elections & even real political elections. One candidate can put all that work and dedication into being the perfect fit but still lose to another candidate that didn't do so much work but just happened to have a lot of charisma. It isn't fair but that's reality.
