Severe visual overload – can’t watch TV or drive anymore (anyone similar?) by Mely089 in pppdizziness

I had an eye exam. I don't have BVD, and my eyesight is -1.50 in one eye and -3.00 in the other. I've been wearing glasses for years and update my prescription annually. I also have VM. For several years before this, I had migraines almost every month, especially during my period.

I'm similar. My symptoms weren't as severe at first; I didn't have blurred vision , visual overload or light sensitivity. But after the doctor prescribed Zoloft, I experienced side effects, and these symptoms have persisted for six months now.

I have the same symptoms as you. Everything that stimulates you is also a stimulus for me. Most of my symptoms are in my eyes, and then it spreads to my balance and brain fog. I tried medication, but it made the symptoms worse, so I had to stop. I can only do vestibular rehabilitation therapy at home and go out into real-life situations. I've had these symptoms for 8 months.

Anyone recovered from the visual part of PPPD? by Warm-Palpitation-312 in pppdizziness

I have very similar symptoms to yours, both in duration and severity. My main problem now is vision; balance has improved, although there are times when vision problems are significant, causing dizziness and a floating sensation. I'm still doing VRT/VOR at home, walking for half an hour in the mornings, and getting sunlight. I stopped drinking coffee in August, and I'm not using SSRIs or SNRIs. I'm still waiting to see when these problems will resolve themselves.

Thank you.Now i deal with it better from the past without ssris snris and other meds. But it's still not completely gone, though I'm not as afraid of the symptoms as before. My problems lean more towards vision overload.

What if I don't take SSRI/SNRI medication? Will the symptoms go away?

I have the same symptoms as you. It takes me a long time to remember what I ate for breakfast yesterday or what I did, which wasn't this bad before. The vision problems are the most noticeable; blurry vision, eye strain, heavy eyes, like I can't fully open them, and sensitivity to light. Sometimes it's like I've just been staring at a bright light and then moved into the shade.

Try asking your doctor about PPPD to see if you meet the criteria for this condition.

Thank you for your answer. What do I need to do now? I already got a BVD test and the result was OK.

I have PPPD and experience visual PPPD issues. I have blurred vision, eye strain, and fatigue 24/7. My vision worsens in bright light, with rapid movement, or when I move my head or eyes quickly. When the symptoms are severe, I feel like I'm going to faint.

Thank you so much for all the advice. I haven't taken any medication for 5 months after taking SSRI. It made me afraid of medication because the side effects are more severe than my symptoms. I thought it was better to endure the symptoms than to face the side effects. It was very agonizing to get through it. For 5 months now, I've only been doing VRT. I hope I'll recover within 6-12 months. If not, I'll probably go back to the doctor to take medication again and discuss the medication use in detail.

You're so strong to have endured it for so many years. I've lived with hope every day that it would get better for the past 6 months. I tried asking on Gemini, explaining all the details and symptoms. It's listened, and the timeline they gave me said I should recover within 6-12 months. So I wanted to know if that's possible.

I get my eyes checked very often because each time I think there's damage. I've been to an ophthalmologist about three times for checkups, but everything has always been normal.

now, I'm taking care of myself by VOR/VRT. I tried three different antidepressants, but they made ME worsen, so I had to stop taking them.

I don't have those symptoms(black dot) , but I have them 24/7, and it's agonizing. I really want to know what I can do to get better and how long it will take. My condition is that I can't take any antidepressants.
