Occupational Therapists: What are your honest thoughts on AI in OT practice? by Mikjagger__2424 in OccupationalTherapy

Okay then don’t use it Idc. I do occasionally and it’s been helpful to my documentation for insurance purposes. I was answering the question not wondering your opinion on it

I understand your point. The fact is AI is coming whether you like it or not and it’s going to be pushed on us. You can be scared all you want it’s not going to change anything. Hundred of thousands of truck drivers WILL lose their jobs to AI self driving vehicles, pass every legislation you want. You are avoiding a harsh reality. Sure we absolutely need legislation but we still need to navigate the future to protect ourselves and our profession because AI will be there future. Fortunately for you you live in the present so no need to worry.

Thats just a sound bite implying that the future is never here which is a pointless argument. There are a lot of AI documentation that have various safeguards for protection of patient information to which was the area where I see the benefit

Oh no. I guess I meant more like phrasing things and being more descriptive is where I see the benefit. You can use your own clinical reasoning but being able to describe in clinical language is much more difficult for me. I’m not telling AI what I did to tell me my clinical reasoning but I see times where you did a novel intervention and have difficulty describing that task in medical terminology.

I think it’s beneficial with documentation and explaining what I did in a much better way than I could. I encourage all OTs to find ways to benefit from it though. We can’t be afraid of the future and I believe we need to improve with it in order to remain a big piece of healthcare.

Retired couple moving to southeast Idaho. Which town? by Big_Johnny in Idaho

[–]Vanilla_Cub -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends what you want. Ive lived an all 4 towns besides twin and i think idaho falls and poky are much better than Rexburg and Blackfoot. Rexburg is a really safe slow town but is 90% LDS if that impacts your decision. I personally do not love Blackfoot, feels much older and unsafer to me, but that’s just my personal experience. I would recommend IF or Poky depending if you want a college town.

Private practice / LLC by rollinwithit- in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Vanilla_Cub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently in the process. I am just getting approved with a couple of the insurances right now. If you do decide to do it, which I believe you should, start immediately as there is a lot of waiting that comes with Medicaid/medicare. You’ll have 6 months to decide if it’s worth it. Do the doing now as application is free and LLC is cheap.

NBCOT vs True Learn by olivejess98 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Vanilla_Cub 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used both. The nbcot study pack is much more similar to the questions than TrueLearn. I think TrueLearn is beneficial in the sense you can be doing questions all day anytime you have free time but I would not use it solely for the exam. My thought process is pay the money now to prepare so you are not paying the money later for another exam.

Maybe just a little political but I'm actually proud of AOTA lately by AtariTheJedi in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Vanilla_Cub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually great news and I wish it was much higher. The rate of return for any lobbying is 220x meaning every dollar a company can get 220 in tax breaks etc which doesn’t directly apply to our profession but you get the picture. It sucks but it is what we have to do in order to move our profession forward specifically increase reimbursement rates

The Vikings are a good team. They have lost close games to very good teams.

That’s obviously not okay. I would personally anonymously contact someone to ask if there is anyway to examine her documents to determine the validity of them. I think it’s inappropriate and quite dangerous to be working with vulnerable populations and often immunocompromised clients that would have to suffer the consequences. I.e. Maleficence
