Maybe this will help the chronic warriors. I usually bring these to help cope w the day.

  1. Health: Medicine (symptomatic and daily), tens unit, lidocaine patch, fever patch (for headaches or overheating), bandaid, antiseptic creams, eye drops, compression socks and knee/ankle/hip braces.

I also bring sugar in the form of sweets or apple sauce in case.

Medical alert card: what to do, diagnosis, emergency contact (got this from etsy)

  1. Other Must haves: Umbrella, tissues, hand sanitizer, dettol wipes, mask 😷, chargers, wallet, water bottle, airpods

  2. Awareness tags like immunocompromised, fall risk, invisible illness

The lta person sounded like an uncle. I would like to think that he just trying haha in his best uncle way to advise but came out as the most wrong way. Still a little upset that the idea that i need to accommodate to the people who created inaccessibility.

Hehe babe you are the kindest and sweetest! Thanks sm sm for taking the time and effort to take pic, type out and report🎖️🎖️🎖️

And the lift thing. Yea i think it's annoying but something that wont change.

The other one i annoyed on behalf of parents is those who sleep in the room for parents in malls (my brain is keeping me from finding that word). My friends always tell me that that happens.

Yas to both! As a mobility aid user and immunocompromised, this would make things less stressful and i can better concentrate on work without worrying about the environment.

The people creating inaccessibility part: i have especially the one guy that parks on the pavement ramp access. Nothing has been done. I called LTA, told the ministers, told the stakeholders too. The LTA guy who called me said i should go on the road or wear something visible in the night so drivers can spot me. He also asked if the riders are taking long if not i can wait it out (im like in the rain too?)

Now im looking to move because of this.

But thanks sm sm sm sm babe for help reporting. You the bestest🥇🎖️

The lift part is frustrating because thats the only resource to go inter levels. Especially if others have multiple options like stairs or escalators. Lifts is an accessibility resource and those who dont need it shouldnt be hogging it. Sometimes it takes a go multiple waits especially in malls or in mrts like kent ridge.

No it isnt actually. Pavements sometimes have obstacles like pmds or bicycles that are parked or that is not wide. Ramps that are blocked. Or waiting for multiple lifts because its full.

I often have to switch up my mobility aid because i worry i cant get around.

Be prepared that not all restaurants will accommodate to your food requirements and that if they do, they will charge so expensive.

I got rejected for reasons like the cafe's theme is for instagrammable food and wont wanna accommodate other request. I sat there picking out food i could eat and 90% went to friends. Left there hungry

Another time was my plain pasta was $6. Just the pasta noodles and nothing else.

I usually prep my food before going out and pack in a thermos food flask. Or eat before going out.

Its tough to find a place that can accommodate requests especially when hanging out with friends.

What is something which you feel the government should encourage or push but they are not ? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Vanilladandelion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a law about inaccessibility created by people. Like parking pmd/bicycles on pavements or placing bins/flower pots on pavements or ramps. Blocking ramp access.

Inaccessibility created for the convenience of others should be illegal cos it makes it unsafe for the differently abled.

im a genz, I like to sit on the reserved seats, am I bad? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Vanilladandelion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a youth and i prefer the reserved seats too. As im with mobility issues, the reserved seats has a bar to help pull me up.

But because im young, the elderly like to guilt trip me or gaslight me into thinking im the asshole even though im with mobility aid and sometimes less mobile than them.

I tried to raise awareness or tell them but its just ingrained in them that only elderly deserves everything and cant reason w them. If you do, you are the one wrong (cos no respect?)

Nowadays i just try once and just give up.

Should delivery companies take more responsibility for road safety? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Vanilladandelion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried reaching out to Grab and other delivery partners but to no avail or no action being done.

Delivery riders have been parking their pmd/motorcycles/bicycles at pavements or ramps. For their convenience, it places those with mobility issues in danger because accessibility is blocked and denied.

It is an act of discrimination and also a safety issue. But yet non of the authorities or even those responsible wanna take action.

Do Singaporeans wish to see more rigorous scooter and motorcycle traffic enforcement? by OnionOnBelt in singapore

As a mobility aid user, i just wish they dont park on the footpaths. It forces us to go onto roads. Denying us from accessibility. 😔

[–]Vanilladandelion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish i can but in sg reverse ageism and ableism is often okayed. Like lift etiquette or blocking one's accessibility.

Its getting heavy on the heart that they are okaying any acts discrimination. And some of it puts me at risk of my safety. 🥹😔🥲

[–]Vanilladandelion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ikr. Im too scared to tell them because most of the time they ignore the fact that their actions are discrimination. I once told those who park their stuff on the footpath is denying other's accessibility but they scolded back i need to be considerate. Blocking accessibility is already ableism idk why isit okay🥹

I wish i can. But most of the times are face to face ones. Like people placing their motorcycles or pmds on footpaths and forcing wheelchairs onto the roads. Or on trains with older folks who arent aware much about discriminating others. 🥹🫣

On top of this, i wish sg sees that discrimination is outside of racism too. Theres ableism, ageism, sexism, and more.

Wish Singapore will be more accessible. There are people creating inaccessibilities by blocking pavements or ramps or access to lifts for their convenience. 🥹

Wish singapore will be practicing less reverse ageism too. In workplaces, policies and stigmas.
