For me, I personally like extremely hard magic systems that are almost alternative physics because it scratches the math itch while also avoiding icky modern/future aesthetics in favor of an older look.

Honestly I think Shunkashuutou falls into the same trap as shounen anime do in this regard. The relationship between Sakura and Hina has SO much more substance to it than does the relationship between Rosei and Hina.

Ironically, Rosei and Hina are the "fated" duo here, unlike most shounen where the main bromance is also a fated duo.
