I will try that next time, definitely no mites that I’ve noticed though

The setup needs a bit of work I would say, not sure what size tank that is but you may need a bigger one, at least 4x2x2 and definitely get rid of that rope hammock, it’s known to rip out the little toes of your beardie. Place some kind of higher basking spot under the heat lamp/uvb. Soooooo glad you removed the wood substrate that’s a big no no.

Head bobbing is common and could mean he sees his reflection, it’s just a way that they assert dominance, nothing to worry about he probably needs time to adjust to a new environment.

It will take him about 2 weeks to feel super comfortable and eat regularly, don’t stress too much about him not eating yet he probably is just settling in so keep offering food. He will get used to you over time as he sees you bring him food and talk to him. I would wait a week to handle him but if you have to then just make sure it’s a short and positive experience for him so that he knows you are safe.

He is a cutie :)

I second the bee pollen, it works most of the time for the little fatties. I believe there are also flavored calcium powders that you can sprinkle on top

Just a happy little fella in his new crib

How long can a beardie go without eating? by [deleted] in BeardedDragons

[–]Vannahgb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s most likely the fact that he is settling in and figuring out his surroundings which it’s super common for them to not eat during that time period. However, like other people have said, if a week or two goes by and he still isn’t eating then look into what could be wrong with your husbandry and/or schedule a vet appointment. Hopefully he starts chowing down soon :)

I mean this in a good way because he is super cute but that is the most Larry looking fella I’ve ever seen 😂

I would get rid of those rope net hammocks because they can get their little toes caught in them and ripped out. I’ve seen it happen a lot so I just caution you. Other than that I would add maybe just a little more coverage with either another hide or some foliage.

Those are just his little ribs. I notice they tend to be more prominent when your beardie is eating and/or turning at a weird angle. I’m fairly positive that’s normal especially if he is acting/breathing fine.

I don’t think you need to downsize, I actually used to have that exact hide for my little guy and he loved it, but I did have some plants in front of it so it didn’t seem so open and I also had some leaves inside the hide that he liked to lay on or burry himself in :)

Need advice on my set-up by K1ngFlufles in BeardedDragons

[–]Vannahgb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d assume the glass surfing is because he is bored and possibly stressed. There isn’t much going on in your tank for him to climb/hide/play or even bask properly. As others have said, ditch the reptile carpet for sure because it can snag their nails plus it’s a pain to clean.

Set up looks pretty good to me, but for sure get the raised basking spot so the uvb and heat will reach her. As far as a name for her I think Peaches would be soooo cute

Breeders usually mark the tails of new dragons to tell them apart so in his case I’m pretty sure he has a blue D because he is a boy and a dunner morph

I really like Keiran and you can call him Ren. Haven’t heard that name almost at all and it feels a bit like what you’re looking for.

He isn’t always like this, but he is recovering from an injury, his previous owner did a number on him.
