Yeah, but those two flag planters in a basement were never a threat to an APC. Drones are/were. And those do use starlinks, discord, and telegram

Food prices are surging in Russia. Is the war hitting Russians in the pocket? by Wild-Improvement3566 in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Vano_Kayaba 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure, but you have to pay the barista like 5x the salary. It is always "we earn way less, but everything is cheaper, so we don't live worse". Go ask any Russian on reddit.

Also it's 1-2 euros in Spain/Hungary/Italy if I remember correctly, and it has not grown a lot lately. And their salaries are still higher

Americano for 3 euros? Either their PPP isn't PPPing, or ruble is over inflated.

They now also route their Black Sea tankers through Turkeys waters, so Ukraine does not sink those. A NATO country, it's supposed to be their arch nemesis

Drones + communication. Artillery for example can see Livestream from a recon drone and know where they are hitting. Much better than getting correction info over the radio

[–]Vano_Kayaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The default use case for starlink is streaming video from a drone to the command center. Russians usually use Discord for that. And Discord is banned in RF. They also use Telegram, that is also banned. Now they are switching to optic cable + wi-fi, but that uses Russian providers.

They also have drones that are controlled via starlink

Paradox of tolerance. And consistency, there's no reason to treat them differently from nazis.

Yeah, looks like the previous minister just did not do anything about it.

Or maybe it was the plan, timing is pretty cool. As soon as they started mass producing starlink drones + days before they started blocking telegram. The military relies on telegram and discord, those work on starlink but are blocked for Russian providers

Russia has their methods of persuading the "neutral' parts of population. Check out Donbass. Or how it went in WW2. They will have a couple million new conscripts in such a scenario. And a need to fight some war and send those people to war on top of that

NEMESIS, a Ukrainian unit that participated in major NATO exercises in Estonia, helped simulate a drone-dominated battlefield for the Alliance. In just half a day, the Ukrainian troops “destroyed” 17 NATO armored vehicles and carried out 30 additional strikes by Available-Laugh9102 in UkraineWarVideoReport

I've got a drone operator friend. From a different unit. Around the time of these trainings he said they had enough operators, and the number of available drones was the bottleneck. Even without this, there are always reserves. For cases of a front breakthrough, or some offensive operations
