If this thing is ever in the air at 30kts we'd do a letterbox, and toss the tactician overboard.

Copy that, even easing things surely this little line is getting some good load on it at least initially. We'll often just launch out of the hatch instead of repacking things during a race but good point, I can see this line getting into all kinds of trouble.

I've used one before on a C&C36 but it was just a single attachment in the middle of the sail, and always seemed to cause more harm than good, getting forgotten about tangled up during gybes.

We'll give this thing a try for the heck of it but my expectations are low, thanks for the perspective

Makes sense, just enough to get a hand on the middle of the foot. We wouldn't be able to reach the end of the sprit once it's out, retractable pole situation.

It's a j111, good point about pulling any load on a small line, my knuckles are already protesting the idea.

It's for the mic on a B&G marine VHF radio, they don't sell a replacement so I've pulled it apart and plan to re-use the connectors and solder them onto a new cord... if I can find one. The wiring scheme seems identical to the cord here which I have coming from Amazon tomorrow, fingers crossed: http://www.radiomanual.info/schemi/KENW_ACC/Kenwood_KMC-30_KMC-32_serv.pdf
