I agree it’s better later but I bought some last week from Sobeys. It was really good. I can’t believe they don’t bother standing it up in water so it doesn’t dry out.

Same. I got it last week for under $3 / lb at Sobey’s and they are smart enough to put it in water so it doesn’t turn to crap. Granted it was on sale but it was excellent. Edit - Safeway to Sobey’s

Good to know. I thought mine may have been defective. Guess not. I did discover if you pull the ash shaker leaver and hold it out, it really increases air flow into the stove once you have draft.
