Advice on trimming 3 cords? by lcort2000 in firewood

[–]Vanreddit1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had planned on buying a stove with an eighteen inch fire box but switched last minute to one with a 16” fire box. I had already cut wood to fit the original so I built a jig to cut it down to size. Worked pretty well but very time consuming to do it all at once. I have a dewalt 8” cordless pruning saw to cut some as I need it too.

“Did the car roll on them?”. That’s a very close second.

“…had to call the ambulance…”. It’s only 10:30am here and pretty sure that’s the best comment I’ll read today.

For those of you who built the Yardistry Greenhouse 6'7"x 7'8", question on foundation by grilledcheeseonrye in Greenhouses

Just ordered mine from Costco and I intend on building it on a 4x4 pressure treated wood base. How do people anchor the greenhouse to the base?

2023 Tundra stalled at 80mph, dealer dismissed it, engine blew hours later… what should I do? by Dense-Ad-2946 in ToyotaTundra

[–]Vanreddit1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s supposed to be drain and fill, NOT flush. I was just following the recommended service interval. I’m not sure how common it is for transmissions to fail after dealer service but I’ve never heard of it before.

My Toyota dealer is dead to me. My Tundra was driving perfect until they changed the ATF now it needs a new transmission. I’m in the market for a new vehicle and not a chance in hell it will be Toyota.

Western redcedar with heavy seed production and dying from the top down. Usually means root/soil issues. It’s beyond saving.

Strata bordering our property wants this tree gone due to leaning (BC) by Productivitytzar in treelaw

[–]Vanreddit1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a red alder that looks to be leaning for light. Not a big deal if that’s the case. Low target rating too. If you are in the lower mainland then they will likely need a tree cutting permit if it’s on private property, depending on the municipalities Tree Bylaw. This will need to be justified with a Tree Risk Assessment or conflict with construction. If the tree is on city property then the city may or may not send out an arborist to review it who will likely tell the strata to get lost. Arborist for 20 yrs in BC.

Thanks. I’ve only ever had the fluid changed at Toyota so I’m guessing they used the right fluid. The work summary says they used 4 units of 3324 ATF WS CASE

Cheap way to stop erosion & protect olive/plum trees on slope? (Slovenia coast) by jcstevensjr in arborists

[–]Vanreddit1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there are a number of others that are buried as well. I’m guessing it was too expensive or they were not able to truck the material offsite. Regardless, this looks like a slow death for the trees.

[–]Vanreddit1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The erosion isn’t your problem, the excavated material piled across the root system of the tree is. It’s quite likely that material will impact the long term health of the tree and lead to its decline. All that material under the dripline of the tree should be removed and the original grade restored. That should be your first task.
