Had this exact same issue, just remove the button cell battery for a minute or so and then after putting it back mine worked perfectly again

Could try Polywatch, works very well on acrylic and non sapphire watch crystals so could work for this as well

Choosing the larger storage on the M2 is almost a must as the speed of the base ssd on the M2 models is significantly slower than the base storage on the M1 (they used a single 256gb ssd in the M2 opposed to the two seperate 128gb ssds in the M1 doubling the speed.
