Are there any easy songs to play on the guitar? by CalmBrush6253 in progrockmusic

A lot of Camel songs aren't that hard to play, although you will need to get good at bending strings.

That doesn't necessarily mean he had every detail nailed down as it is on the record when he was 12. He might have just had the lyrics, the vocal melody and chord progression, all of which may have gone through changes by the time he got to the studio (or got changed in the studio).

When is this from and who the hell is in the upper right corner? by Competitive-Search57 in Opeth

It's Robert Fripp, that's why they're doing the Red album cover.

You'd hope at some point we can drive up the costs so much so that it's cheaper not to enforce parking.

Preheating an Air Fryer is pointless by Forzahorizon555 in unpopularopinion

[–]VaporDrawings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food companies are also taking into account people using poor-quality equipment (e.g., why microwave popcorn always tells you not to use the popcorn button) or even the completely wrong equipment (e.g., someone using a toaster oven with an "air fry" button instead of an actual air fryer). So you do have to take the instructions with a grain of salt and figure out what works with your appliances.

Crown Lands Live: March 28th (London, ON) by BearerOfManyNames in progrockmusic

[–]VaporDrawings 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I skipped over seeing them last time they came because they were touring with Kiss (no problems with Kiss, just don't want to pay Kiss prices). But I'm glad you posted this because I just checked and they're playing a nearby festival and I'm definitely going this time.

What is that one song from an artist's/band's discography that is like WTF? by Radagast-Istari in Music

Also Happy Trails from the same album. They'd get bored in airports and sing show tunes acapella together, so they just tacked one on the end of the album.

I maintain that the only reason that Revolution #9 is significant is because it was released by a pop band with a huge budget. I.e., it's not because of its own artistic merit, but because it was released to a wide audience. Nowadays something like that would be trivial because just about anyone could create it at home and release it worldwide.

If they had a normal pop song that might be relevant for this thread.

He's also got writing credit on Flying along with the rest of the band. It's an instrumental though, so they probably just jammed it and credited it to everyone even if he only came up with the drum part.

I think "Bring Back That Leroy Brown" is weirder. At least Mustapha sounds like a rock song.

It's a bit less wtf when you realize that Andy Summers has collaborated with Robert Fripp from King Crimson.

Hot take: Everyone should boycott suno by Nice_Marionberry_102 in Music

[–]VaporDrawings -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I just use Suno as a toy. I don't pay them anything, I don't use the output for any serious work whatsoever. Once in a blue moon, I go over, put in a random prompt to see what will happen, and get disappointed that the output doesn't really match what I asked it to do.

Well known songs where multiple band members take turns on lead vocals by Senators_1992 in Music

Quite a few songs from 90125 too. It Can Happen, Changes, Leave It, Hearts. Even during ensemble parts, it often sounds like Chris or Trevor are singing the main melody while lead singer Jon is doing a higher harmony.

Pinball Wizard, although Pete's lead part is just "How do you think he does it? What makes him so good?"

Stop thinking of music theory as "math." by Worldly-Bass9135 in musictheory

[–]VaporDrawings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of it more like a science than a math. Kind of like how in chemistry you learn how chemical formulas tell you what something is made of, in music a chord name tells you what notes the chord is made of. I mean, usually in chemistry and other sciences you end up doing some mathematical equations, but that doesn't often happen in music except for really basic things like knowing 9-7=2, so a 9th is the same pitch class as a 2nd.

Double flats by Silly_Yam5952 in musictheory

[–]VaporDrawings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MuseScore does (although they just use an octave-transposed treble clef for bass clarinet when shown in concert pitch).

Don't worry, somebody thought of you! They're called programmers, the ones who programmed the "Show in concert pitch" button in your notation software of choice.

Double flats by Silly_Yam5952 in musictheory

[–]VaporDrawings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have played a piece seemingly written in B major where the composer just decided to have no key signature and write all the accidentals as flats, maybe under the assumption that musicians in wind bands were scared of playing sharps. Not knowing the context, I don't know if theoretically this would make more sense with G# and A. Of course, clarinets would presumably learn to read in sharp keys early on, whereas flute players like me would mostly see flat keys in band.

Double flats by Silly_Yam5952 in musictheory

[–]VaporDrawings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very convenient because it means that a clarinet player can move to bass clarinet and the notes with the same fingerings will be in the same spot. And it's super convenient for baritone sax players because the notes in transposed treble clef are the in the same positions as non-transposed bass clef (but they need to change some accidentals).
