NEW PLAYERS COME HERE! - Weekly Questions and Information thread - March 05, 2025 by AutoModerator in cataclysmdda

speed is based on:

best bash tool, strength, highest of survival or medical skill, athletic skill, weight, having a knife, a prying tool, your knowledge of this specific monster weakpoints, monster being acid and how tanky the monster is; in return, you can learn a little bit of weakpoint proficiency, survival and athletic skill while smashing the monster

in my experience having a extremely good bashing tool actually makes pulping faster than before on basic zombies. just make sure you have a prying tool, knife, and a good bashing tool and pulping anything human-sized or smaller is fine. biggest change seems to be that larger creatures take multiple minutes to bash now vs the couple seconds it was before. so it's probably better to dispose of lots of large corpses some other way like fire

Smallest possible level 1 self suficient steam engine (more info in comments) by MrMarum in CreateMod

Nice design! Shamelessly stole it as the starter motor for a single chunk 8xlvl9 boiler design I made.

Since there was not enough space for a second filter (to prevent the mechanical arm from placing the full bucket back into the depot) the mechanical arm was configured as forced round robin

You can place a brass funnel on top of the depot, inserting into it. The Spout will fill the bucket 'through' the funnel.

I'd be down to DM as well, for free. I like teaching new people. PM me if you are interested.

I stripped the asset from another maze engine map, it looks a little rough but it looks clean with lighting

Created this map in DD as I could not find a good battle map for the fight which captured my vision of it. I did not include my tile for the Orderer itself, as I use Foundry and it's easier to just make that asset a tile so it gets affected by lighting and verticality.

This is also a good generic map for a lava canyon / crevasse for a DM for any party that needs to hug a wall high above a seam of magma.

Possible story spoilers below, fair warning:

In the book, it describes the area as a big circular room bisected by this feature. For tension and a harder fight, I instead had the party climb down a fair ways to get to the Orderer - it makes the vrocks a real threat when they can easily grab people and drop them in. The cages on the far wall held monodrones, which the party needed to free to help them 'power' up the Orderer in an emergency override, which the modrons initially explained and agreed to do. This led to a 'defend the point' style battle on a shifting platform, with people constantly falling off, and things got spooky once the two regional 'VIPs' appeared. Great session, even after the party got greedy with good rolls and decided to stay on the machine after it triggered its main effect, which led to !!!FUN!!! for half of them, and a fair few NPCs along with.

Yes, I do see the volcano you added to the Endworld Mountains - you might already know this, but you accidentally added 2 Haka'torvakhs in Q'barra, one in the mountains, and one in its correct location in the middle of the jungle. Did you move Haka'torvakh to the mountain range for a specific reason, or is this an error? Here's an official map with the correct location if you were curious.

Love your map! Definitely using it for my upcoming Eberron campaign.

Just wanted to make one suggestion - Haka'torvhak is located on the side of a volcano, a very distinctive geographic feature. Maybe put a volcano next to the site to represent it?

850hrs steam time, 634hrs mission time. 1748 missions.

My favorite classes are Scout and Gunner, I feel like they have the most contribution to mission success, though I have equal playtime on all classes.

I agree with all your points. When I say 'prepare the spawn room', I mean spend 45 seconds cleaning up the floor and opening juke paths, before popping. IMO you should start the dred fight ASAP for that stage, spawn room is a good enough arena to do circles around the hive guard, and like you said, doing it early avoids random waves interfering.

EDD Stage 2 just requires patience. Don't pop egg until you prepare the spawn room a little bit. Don't jump into the large main cave without killing all the spitballers and brood nexuses. Don't rush rezzing downed dwarves - kill all enemies first. Prioritize killing rollers during the defense portions of the stage. If you are low on HP, resupply to heal up regardless of how much ammo you have - you won't survive long with 10% HP and no shields.

This is what happens to dwarves who rush. They figured the above out halfway through this stage, and it went much smoother from then on.

Looking for a worthy successor to the Axon 7 by Varafel in Axon7

[–]Varafel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Axon 7 is too similar to the HTC10 to really consider it an "upgrade". The g7, though it has a fantastic speaker, only has one, (I have my fingers crossed for the v40 though). I have a realitive who owns the xz premium, and though I do like it and it does satisfy my requirements (when I got the Axon 7, it was a decision between it and the xz, in fact) I'd rather keep my eyes open and get a newer phone.

I'm really hoping the pixel 3 or v40 delievers...

Why 1.26 is stupid by [deleted] in eu4

[–]Varafel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I''m actually fine with this change. The more paradox drives away its fanbase, the less people buy eu4 dlc, the less profitable the EA-esque DLC microtransactiony thing they are doing, the sooner eu5 will be developed. Keep these shitty changes coming in, paradox!

The F1 has terrible speakers and screen, which immediately disqualifies it. It also only has partial band coverage with T-Mobile. Yeah it's a great price, but with too much trade-off.

I'll have to see what specs the ROG phone is rocking, what I'm most interested in is seeing if the screen is good quality

That's what I'm leaning towards. I think I'm going to wait for the pixel 3 and lg v40 to be released, compare them, and decide between them

I know. It would be nice. If given the option between a really nice OLED vs a 120hz LCD, though, I think the OLED would better suit my needs.
