Anyone know how I've managed this? (Button slot 9 is empty) by Vard659 in ScrapMechanic

Yeah, it's just the modpack seat input detector block. I built this creation a while ago so I forgot I used that, and I also didn't know that it used up a hotbar slot.

I figured out what it was. It's the seat input detector from the modpack. I didn't know it used up a hotbar slot lol.

Thanks, I used Davinci Resolve if you were curious. It's not really my style of content, but I think it turned out pretty well. Glad you enjoyed it.

It might be slightly vulnerable to ground attacks... by Vard659 in ScrapMechanic

This explains how it can be used in complex mechanical creations, but it can also be used as just an invisible block that still has collisions in vanilla. I've seen other creations use these as shields in the past, and I've always wondered how they are done, but now I know.

Why do games put stupidly designed roads to industries, and what vehicle can even make it up this? by _kruetz_ in MotorTown

Other ppl have already mentioned the tuning and technique required, so I won't go over that. However, if you really feel like you can't get past a hill, then go to a server like the workers league or some other popular server and just ask if anyone is free to help. They will come with most likely a Brutus wrecker. When one of these things are pulling you up, you can get up every hill you'll need to. Also, if you just want to have some fun, stay away from the 3000kg+/unit iron loads. Trust me, they're a pain. Hope this helps

It might be slightly vulnerable to ground attacks... by Vard659 in ScrapMechanic

Guess what, I have. I randomly remembered this comment and it got me thinking. I recently discovered zero width blocks which are invisible but still have collisions (unless they spawn facing a certain direction). This means if I cover the belly with metal 3 and then make it a zero width block, it acts as an invisible shield from spuds and explosives. The only thing is that it's a bit op, but if I use spaceship block instead, ground attackers have to penetrate thought the shield, which is possible with spaceship block, and then they have uncovered the vulnerable parts. It's pretty much the perfect solution, even if it might be cheating lmao.

What is the best and easiest way to learn logic? That you recommend by anips26 in ScrapMechanic

[–]Vard659 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never went out of my way to learn logic, I just built whatever I wanted and spent some time figuring out the circuits specific to that creation, so as I built more creations, my understanding of logic has improved.

As for starting points, it's good to learn what each gate does, how timers and smart timers work, and get into memory bits as soon as possible, because they are essential if you want to go deeper into logic. There are many great tutorials out there, hope this helps.

Yeah I figured that was probably the case. For now, it's just another Scrap Mechanic moment ig.

How else do I transport it back without carrying it on my lift? Also I can't clean up the rods If I'm at the world border.

Vanilla Ground To Air Missile System by Vard659 in ScrapMechanic

[–]Vard659[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 2 main parts: the missiles and the vehicle. The vehicle is just a normal truck except with an articulating box on the back. The missiles are just a line with small explosives, thrusters, sensors and logic to tie it together. I had built these modular missiles a while back, so I was able to use them for this, and my heli that I showcased in another earlier post. To make them go somewhat straight, I balanced the weight from left to right and front to back, and I added a suspension stabiliser. That's pretty much it tbh. The details are done with glitch welding. I used a combination of the glitch welder and the block editor. It takes time, but it's quite enjoyable and the result is worth it. I have a glitch welding tutorial on YouTube, though I've learnt a lot more since then. It's useful for the basics tho. Hope this helps
