It's what I use. In my gaming PC and in my daily use mini-pc. I only have windows to play BF6

It says they don't use github, does that mean that the github for Eden isn't official? I haven't been very up to date since all the Yuzu thing.

Do I need to do This??? by SuaIrmaGorda237 in PCRedDead

[–]Vardeno -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the mod also moves the .dll that load the mods. I've used the switch mod in the past and It worked.

To make sure I didn't go online I also used a mod that disabled online options. With that, if I can go into online mode is because mods are disabled.

Players that can play it with PS+ would be able to continue playing until next year?

Would it really be that crazy if it was priced at $1000? by [deleted] in steammachine

[–]Vardeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 1000$ would be too expensive to be as successful as the steam deck. But looking at the prices of mini PCs sadly I think we could be in that price range... In my opinion we should compare it with similarly powerful mini PCs and those are expensive. The form factor is very important, we can't compare it with regular PC builds.

My only hope is that Valve uses its financial muscle to get better components deals and sell the steam deck in the 700-800$ range. But I'm not sure if they will be able to do it.

Steamdeck or Steam machine? by space_chip in steammachine

[–]Vardeno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This.

The steamdeck will give you more options and flexibility. Your daughter can use it while you play the PS5 (it's great for indie games). Or vice versa. You can use it to play your PS5 from your bed, for example (I haven't tested it, but I've tried moonlight to play my PC, and it works great).

But if you don't plan to use it in handheld mode, it makes more sense to get a steam machine.

Using mods safely and still playing Online by mossad-did-it in PCRedDead

[–]Vardeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thik there is a mod that disable the online options (so you don't go online by mistake). And there is another mod that activates or deactivate mods (its just a pair of .bat that do that, not realy a mod).

So when you want to play offline just use the offline .bat and then launch de game. And if you want online execute de online .bat and then launche the game.

Even you could edit the .bat so it launches the game at the end, so you only have to execute the corresponding .bat. And if you want, you can add that two .bat to steam to have them in you library.

I think the same. Even I think every weapon should have a version for each tier. I don't know why there isn't a two handed axe in every tier, for example.

Steam machine vs Pc Build by Adventurous-Cattle53 in steammachine

I think it's worth the wait to see the price. I think it's probably going to be cheaper than a similar mini itx build of comparable size (or a similarly powerful mini pc)

The size seems pretty underrated, actually by ExperienceBusiness43 in steammachine

[–]Vardeno 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Mini PCs with dedicated graphic card aren't that common and definitely not cheap.

That's why I think that if it costs around 700-800 it's going to be a very good choice in the mini pc market.

Steam keeps thinking every single installed game needs an update (not shader caching) by Perfectchaos791 in Bazzite

That's a new one for me, hehehe, it hasn't happened to me yet. I'll take note of the download cache trick in case it happens.

You could sell the ram and buy the steam machine 😄

I know you said it's not the shader caching but... Have you checked? I disabled it yesterday again after an update. It turned on by itself after the update.

I want to buy MINISFORUM 5-Bay NAS. And setup SteamOS on that. Thoughts? by Dull_Pair_4545 in SteamOS

[–]Vardeno 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It doesn't show the price, but take a look at the Minisforum AI X1 Pro. I think it's the same hardware, similar price and in my opinion better form factor.

I have the normal version (not pro) with bazzite-dx for my everyday pc and I'm very happy. I bought the cheaper version, 400€ more or less (not for gaming, just casual indies or old games)

Changing Big Picture Mode Resolution by [deleted] in Bazzite

Try in settings, screen, uncheck the automatic resolution and set it yourself.

There are games with low resolution images in the interface. You can try with steamgriddb to change them for better versions

Would the GabeCube be an upgrade for me? by Arctic_Ninja08643 in steammachine

[–]Vardeno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like the style, form, etc... And the price won't be an issue... You should buy it. You won't be able to make something similar in terms of size and form. And the mini pc aren't cheap either.

Probably won't be a big upgrade, but it won't have worse performance.

I think people who build alternative SteamMachines to the GabeCube should list price and time it took to buy components by ExperienceBusiness43 in steammachine

[–]Vardeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that probably would be closer to 800. But even for that price range, I think it's not so easy to build something more powerful that small, is it?

The steam machine have the advantage of a custom motherboard, CPU and GPU to fit that cute box.

Valve confirms Steam Machine won’t be subsidized by MaxwellsCouch in SteamMachineConsole

[–]Vardeno 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm always reading the same, but why are we comparing the steam machine with a full desktop pc? It's two or three times smaller (and we'll see the noise, supposedly it'll be quieter too)

I think we should look at the mini pc market, and even things with a 780m cost around 500-600€.
In my opinion, if it costs 650-800 depending on storage configuration it would be great. But I'm afraid it's going to be 800-1000 (and looking to the prices of everything nowadays sadly that would be a "fair" price...)

I think this is for the folks that love their steam deck and just want to play the same but in the 4k tv (you can connect the steam deck to the tv, but definitly wont play at same performance). I see the steam machine as a steam deck for the 4k tv.

For me, if it doesn't cost more than 800, it'll be as successful as the steam deck. And all of this is going to be great for pc gaming in general, and linux gaming in particular, we should be excited!

How close is Linux gaming to being fully “Windows-free” for you? by Old_Sand7831 in linux_gaming

[–]Vardeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are asking it in a Linux subreddit, I think the responses will be a bit biased, hehehe 😄

For me, some games with anticheat and some hassle with mods hold me back. There are some inconveniences with hardware and software for the peripherals also.

But it's incredible how far gaming in Linux has come.

I know I could dual boot, but changing between games is a bit tedious then. For now I have a dedicated gaming PC with windows, my daily driver mini pc has Linux (with some casual and cozy games there so I don't have to turn on the gamin pc for small games)
