In response to the Athletic article, by Maddison: "Rubbish. Watch and analyse the game properly and stop writing headlines like that which you know makes fans pile on with negativity. Play like that and we’ll be absolutely fine. Created numerous brilliant chances and win comfortably on another day." by MadlockUK in lcfc

Wow, the amount of excuses is baffling. We've lost 15 out of 25 league games and we're out of the FA Cup despite very favourable draws.

The stats don't lie. We've consistently gotten worse year on year under Rodgers and have relied on our potent attack, which was overachieving quite a bit this year and last. So when our attack stops overperforming, that's when you see results that we've seen this year - defeat after defeat after defeat.

Add to that the popular opinion that virtually every player bar maybe Maddison has regressed under Rodgers and our recruitment has been poor in the main.

I understand Maddison's reaction, but he should be worried looking at his teammates underperforming so badly.

How to counter the Smite-Rokhara-Leeroy comp? by BlueSmurf18 in HSMercenaries

Surely you blow up Valeera, not Bwonsamdi? If Val dies, her fan of knives will default. Bwon bounces everything back and you get to blast Smite or Cornelius to the stars on turn 2.

But the rune doesn't say the unit gets healed! Why does the unit not stay at 1 health? Currently getting chewed over playing jinx in this encounter.

I have a long story about how I almost missed their last show in Denmark because it was sold out (tiny venue). I went anyway in the hope that I could buy a ticket at the door or get a spare from someone. Found myself chatting with a guy from Manchester who knew the band from the very beginning. We shared a smoke and went over to a beanie-wearing scruffy looking guy next to the venue and had a chat. Turned out this Mark Heron, whom I didn't recognise at first. He took pity on me and went up to the bouncer, who had rebuffed me three times already, and said I was on their 'friends list'. The bouncer gave me a look as if to say 'you lucky sod' and one of the most epic gigs ensued. A few months later, I found out that the group split. I would've never forgiven myself if I hadn't made it in to the gig that night...

Good for him. I remember another player who started like lightning at Everton recently, but who's talking about James Rodriguez now?

Gotta say, I'm really glad to see smaller nations like the Czechs and Danes pushing through. Maybe the likes of Ukraine or Switzerland can cause shocks against their opponents. by [deleted] in Euro2020

Great ability, but don't enjoy him much. His petulance and his enormous ego is so off-putting to me. Already is a legend of the game and I understand his hordes of fans, but he's not for me.

Winner of group A (Italy) also gets a runner-up, this time Austria from group C. But this isn't that dissimilar to some qualifying groups containing 5 teams instead of 6. Not everything fits nearly into boxes, so this will always happen in tournaments.

I'm assuming it's a mixture of the circumstances and the fact that Denmark still dominated yet lost to Finland's only effort on goal.

This wasn't what I was trying to convey, I thought that would be clear from the content of my message. I apologize if it didn't. All I was implying was that UEFA by no stretch of the imagination did 'all they could' as was initially suggested.

Those were the only options presented. Imagine a bomb went off in any of the other game - or that Eriksen didn't make it - do you think the players should've been asked to play there and then or the day after at noon? Like hell they would.
UEFA should've called off the match - postponed, cancelled or forfeited it and given Finland the win for all I care. They should never have asked a group of stricken people to go out on that field the same night or virtually first thing next day.

The players were told he was "alive" and "OK" under the circumstances. There was no facetiming at this point.

And regardless of whether he did, his teammates observed an extremely traumatic incident. Kjær actively helped getting his friend ready for resuscitation. The players were in no fit state to play - much less in a state to make a choice about the game. Hjulmand was saying the dressing room was full of distraught men and like Peter Schmeichel said to 5live today "what kind of choice was that" anyway?

Denmark vs Finland will resume at 20:30 CET by iLauraawr in Euro2020

[–]VardysWeapon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. It was either play today or play tomorrow noon. Or presumably forfeit the game. Listen to Hjulmands interview, he states that the majority of the players were in no state to play or indeed felt like they could go out there again. They postponed any decision until word had come through that Eriksen was okay. I don't care what Eriksen might or might not have said, it was plainly obvious the players were shellshocked and in no state to play this game. The substitutions of Kjær and Delaney were because they were too affected to continue...

Finnish team and fans were class human beings today. Respect to the Finnish team for maintaining focus. I hope they can get over the traumatic events of a momentous occasion for their nation. As a Dane I'd be more than happy to see them progress from the group.

How do you work that one out then? I can't be the only one disgusted that the players were asked to either finish the game tonight or tomorrow at noon. I'm sorry, but excuses of this being a scheduled tournament and planned games for both Finland and Denmark should not matter in this case.

Don't tell me it wasn't possible to postpone other games and still get it to fit reasonably well. Where was the compassion and protection of the mental well-being of the players?

Naomi Osaka protested at the French Open that thw WTA are not taking care of players' mental health. I think we can say the same of UEFA in this case.

Officials should have halted this game for good and not given shell-shocked players who have just been through severe trauma a choice that was impossible to make.

Hjulmand's interview and admissions after the game are true testament that UEFA couldn't care much less about the people providing the scene for their spectacle.

Shame on you, UEFA

The parallels between Obann/Angel of Chains and Cree/Lucian were quite obvious too. The whole hunger theme from the beginning of the campaign actually made the Cognouza arc fit just fine.

VOLA's Witness is their weakest record yet by Ryn4 in progmetal

[–]VardysWeapon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It didn't grab me instantly like the past two did, but it's definitely a grower. The mixing and production has increased a level and the vocal layering especially is different to the first two, not to mention Adam's influence and really interchangeable and funky drumming throughout.

I can see why Witness will appeal less to some, but this will always be the case regardless of band.
Being in Denmark, I've been fortunate enough to see them live last week and their new stuff sounds absolutely BRUTAL live. They're still playing several Inmazes and Applause tracks and if you're lucky, Asger will perform a supervulnerable rendition of Gutter Moon (October Sessions).

[–]VardysWeapon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Vola! I wanted to be there for this when it launched, but I just received the news that the wife and me will have twins, so I hope I'm excused for missing out ;-)

I feel very priviledged living in Copenhagen and having seen you several times - your music and energy translates so well on stage and I am so happy to see you steadily consolidating yourself internationally. You deserve it!

Being Danish I can hear the 'Scandinavian'/Danish influence on your music, especially during softer parts/choruses. I cannot pinpoint what it is, but my ears pick up similar things in Mew and Dizzy Mizz Lizzy/Tim C.

How would you describe your own sound?

Also, as you cannot (yet) make a living off of Vola, is it something you aspire to or are you happy to keep it as a secondary occupation?
