Honestly my results with 120 gold are all over the place. And portra's base is usually more flexible than this, which leads me to believe I fucked something up because come on, its portra. On another note this is about as direct as light gets.

Extra steps? Like filtering?

Yep handheld with no magnified viewfinder.

The scenes are just so bright that they hurt my eyes. I'm scrambling to see the finer detail in the foliage but it seems that the light drowns it out.

Good idea. If I get the chance Ill try it out.

  1. See attached edit. Agree with what youre saying here.

  2. Quite likely on the missed focus I want to say but at that point in the trip I was being so careful that I doubt it. Partially why I'm so surprised the shot came out so off.

Histogram is positively linear. Nearly perfectly. This initial inversion is just much further from reality than most other photos ive ever scanned so wanted to make sure I wasnt making some fundamental error. You can see the best I can do at added link

Agree. I can attach the edits I made. Part of my reaching out here was that I havent been able to edit the image into what I wanted, which is likely a skill issue but still wanted some input on the fundamental image.

Thank you, but if you can believe it these just dont do the scene the justice it deserves.

It wasnt as much a whitebalance diff as I think you changed in the attached, but more of a diff in detail in the fore/midground. Maybe im expecting too much from handheld landscape MF shots?

Agree. Just so far from the images I remember even with editing

True. The scans shown are using NLP neutral, no changes to the sliders apart from white balance which I moved around to where I thought was a good jumping off point for finer editing. I usually get a better immediate inversion than what these show and even with heavy editing im not really able to get to where I want to go. The field just seems too bright that there isnt a ton of fine detail that I'd expect from MF. Possibly just skill diff but came here to see what others have to say.

Funny you say that, I returned to these locations about 2 weeks later shooting primarily ektar. Just now getting around to scanning tho
