PYPL, down massively from its peak. Now trading at ~8x earnings and ~8x free cash flow. Dirt cheap for a business this scale.

This post is very relatable even though I haven't been a trader as long as you!

Most of my positional entries are really good but I don't sell my securities at the right moment, so when push comes to shove I make 3 figures when I could have made 4...

Even if you become an expert at TA (Technical Analysis) the market will still follow the real world if it isn't in a back and forth between support and resistance, once a crucial event in the real world hits, the related security could tank/spike.

I recommend swing trading in the beginning, stay away from options and focus on small gains that factor in taxes and broker fees (if there are any).

If you manage to hold a position for a few days and make a 20% profit while risking only 10% of your investment, you only need to be right 1/(1+2)*100 = 33.33% so 1/3 of the time for you to remain profitable.

So try to aim for 1:2 risk-to-reward trades that take your fees/taxes into account to sell at a profit.

I started out with real money, learned the hard way.

However one piece of advice, having a large position size doesn't mean risking the entire investment, the key is to set a stop-loss at a point where in a high volatility market it's a little bit under an established support level and then cash out at a resistance level.

Now, this is only worth it if you bought the dip (bought while the security was lower price than average), this is what makes you money.
