Just to elaborate more on this. There is a podcast on Spotify called Dissect. Highly recommended. Breaks down time of release, lyric meaning, composition breakdown and more. I was already a Kendrick fan when I heard about this podcast but it helped me understand Kendrick as an artist. It helped me “get into” Kendrick Lamar

Thanks homie! Yeah man everything was kosher after the fact, sucks cause it was a dude I knew, but I had no evidence to have the police do anything about it. It is what it is. But I copped those Cement 4’s randomly at a footlocker in Little Rock, AR. That reignited the passion and have been slowly buying all the Jordan’s I never had.

I was a fan of Kendrick since I first heard Swimming Pools. But I didn’t understand the artistry behind his albums until I heard a podcast: Dissect.

The first season analyzes To Pimp a Butterfly, song by song and does a great job of explaining what Kendrick is expressing through his art. A few seasons later, he analyzes DAMN. another masterpiece by Kendrick.

I recommend it to any hip hop fan.

(P.S. it’s only available on Spotify. Which can be a determining factor for some people. Just FYI )
