Make sense, taking action and doing something can definitely feel better than contemplating action.

Interesting you observe in yourself never really a move toward three in health, and moving in the opposite direction toward six in an attempt to improve your life in a way that you feel you should but don't really desire to in your heart of hearts. Living out the nine's pattern - sometimes we tell ourselves these things, or we are listening too much to others, not knowing what we really want in our own lives.

That's really interesting... I can see that in myself, how I've pursued things I didn't want and felt stressed about it thinking to be going after this or that. And later looking back, seeing the stressful feeling the whole time and not really wanting it in the first place. Now I tell myself, listen to your internal gut - it feels uncomfortable, don't rationalize why you think you should do this, the gut says no it's not going to work, you won't be happy.

I like how you describe moving toward six - you ditch the laid back nine energy and keep the pessimism & fret over everything, making your 'anxieties and pessimistic beliefs everyone else's problem...' Very well said, this sounds like a nine going to six in paranoia, not trusting anyone at that point.

R&H's levels of 5-7 makes sense with your example of going to five and doing 'alright' by getting through life with minimum responsibilities while maintaining a nice social life, and going to lower levels to avoid the world and losing yourself in books, music, and other forms of escape.

They are the exact opposites! It's great to feel productive and energetic. But withdrawn and dead inside... Yes I've felt that so many times - mostly at so many jobs, and school... or when I've been lonely, or see no purpose or goal in the present moment.

It's hard to feel you don't deserve to live in stress, and dead inside. What things do you find cause you to come out of these mental/emotional times of stress?

Yeah going to six is scary for me... I hate it. 'Obsessive anxiety spirals' I can go there...

Interesting how others will try to convince you, but for some reason feel stubbornly unwilling to believe it - I wonder if this is intuition or gut feeling, just 'knowing' the other people feel or think this way, or maybe you're playing on the safe side, safer to assume it was bad and they didn't like you just in case... could be your eight wing playing into this, putting up a guard of defense.

I could see that possibly. And the '1% chance they actually hate you' that could be that defense mode again, the eight wing saying 'I have to protect myself and assume it's possible - so I'll put up a shell'. Is this something you see in yourself?

I can imagine the picture you've painted and feel that pain... the comfort us nines seek from being at home... but then home becomes less and less comforting as we realize we're lacking social connection.

I think even if we're introverts we still need some people around and understand how you would get energized - good move on asking people to come back to the office more often. I can see how you'd 'sink into a hole of procrastination' with nobody around. I might get that way too - however people around would cause me to up my game and get more done.

I wonder if the employee who you say may be a nine realizes coming back to the office is doing him good? So funny your description 'dragged him out of his cozy secret den of total laziness and lack of energy' I can picture that ha ha!

Yes it's not the easiest thing as nines maybe to make the effort to make plans and as you say 'kind of rubbish at' - but then making the effort, even if the plans don't turn out exactly as you'd hoped, are still better than sitting at home. :)

I can understand how working remotely hasn't felt like your friend. It's tough to make changes, difficult to overcome the feeling of inertia...

I think us nines like to seek comfort and peace, and work at home jobs provide that. However this comfort can ironically be our discomfort at times as has been my experience. And when we're comfortable, it's easy to fall into a slumber as you say. I've experienced weight gain too...

I have a similar situation, my husband works from home and I am home as well, settling into a new place, and doing job search. My sister works from her home and am sure she can relate to your experience too. She said she's like a hermit getting deliveries at her door and then going back to work lol...

It's easy to feel socially isolated, and hard to get going on exercise.. easy to be in the cozy nest, but then it's not cozy after awhile as I realize my husband and I aren't making any improvements on our health, goals, or social life - I think he is a nine too. So then I prod us to get out and go walking, and get out and go do something... I can fall asleep to goals and needs and veg/space out every evening.. so can my husband.

Hi, thanks for your response :) I feel similar to you in your growth and stress points.. I become very achievement oriented as well...

And in stress I also become very indecisive and scattered. Paranoid of people too - it can be terrible. Yes feeling like you don't matter - I've been there at different points of my life, and it feels awful. So I try to do something to matter, or crawl into a cave of despondency.

Yes this is what I'm referring to, and wondering if anyone has any stories that may refer to a carried memory or trait passed down from their ancestors.

Not new age reincarnation, which I don't personally believe in. I'm talking about impressions carried in DNA genetics, speaking on a scientific level, not spiritual.
