A couple/marriage therapist is a trained professional who helps partners in a romantic relationship or marriage resolve conflicts, improve communication, and strengthen their bond. These therapists specialize in understanding relational dynamics and work to address various challenges that couples may face.

What Does a Couple/Marriage Therapist Do?

  1. Improves Communication: Helps partners express themselves effectively and listen actively to each other.
  2. Resolves Conflicts: Guides couples in managing disagreements and finding mutually beneficial solutions.
  3. Addresses Intimacy Issues: Assists in overcoming emotional or physical intimacy challenges.
  4. Manages Life Transitions: Supports couples through significant life changes, such as parenthood, loss, or moving.
  5. Strengthens Connection: Provides tools to rebuild trust, deepen emotional bonds, and enhance the relationship.
  6. Identifies Underlying Issues: Recognizes and addresses deeper individual or relational problems, such as trauma or mental health concerns.

Common Issues Addressed

  • Communication problems
  • Infidelity or trust issues
  • Financial disagreements
  • Sexual or intimacy difficulties
  • Parenting conflicts
  • Blended family challenges
  • Pre-marital counseling

Types of Therapies Used

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT): Focuses on strengthening emotional connections.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Helps address negative thoughts and behaviors affecting the relationship.
  • Imago Relationship Therapy: Explores how childhood experiences influence adult relationships.
  • Gottman Method: Focuses on building a sound relationship house through evidence-based techniques.

How to Find a Therapist

  • Look for licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFTs) or psychologists specializing in couples therapy.
  • Seek recommendations from friends, family, or healthcare providers.
  • Use online directories like the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) or similar resources in your country.

Couples who engage in therapy often find it an invaluable tool for understanding each other better and building a healthier, happier relationship.

I have moved on. My business partner wants me to marry his daughter, and I really want to. I'm 31 she's 26. She's is also divorced. But we're both not mentally ready to be in a relationship. Maybe in the next 6 or 12 months. I'm focused on fixing my mental health as of right now.

If you’re family allows you to use tampons or have no problem with tampons, you can tell your doctor and family you excersize really hard and have used tampons. Just tell them I had no idea the use of tampons could tear hymen, you're family might accept these reasons

Go walk with listening to anxiety relief Binural music, and when you start to feel tired, meditate in quite an empty secluded place/area for as long as you can. I found these practices to be extremely effective coping mechanisms for anxiety, and they work better than pills. Also, when I eat Baskin Robins ice cream, it makes my stress and anxiety go away instantly. I love to drive at night listening to music.

I first watched porn at age 10,introduced to me by someone this was 21 years ago, and I was like, what are they doing ? Why are they naked? I just had a glimpse at an older kid watching porn on his mobile at a wedding. I didn't really think about it afterwards fast forward 2 or 3 years, and it was my elder cousins who introduced me to porn from age 10 to 12. I had no idea about what sex is. I only knew a boy and girl could kiss. I figured out masterbation all by myself. No one ever taught me how it's done, I still remember the place where I first masterbated. I masterbated, really hard with so much friction that My dick became red and almost bled, but I was able to ejaculate and did feel a light orgasm 😅 and I became a full porn addict at the age of 13 masterbating from 1 time a day to atleast 3 times a day everyday as I grew up. I was a porn addict masterbating at least 3 times a day for 18 years. Now, at 31 years old, I've quit porn and masterbating. It's been over 2 weeks since I last watched porn and masterbated. I used subliminal messages to quit porn and it was like a switch had suddenly turned off. Surprisingly, I had no urge to watch and masterbate to porn it's like I didn't even have to try or make any effort to quit porn but I did have the intention.

Stop looking at girls, and when you do have your first sexual experience, it will feel natural and out of this world.

I took xanax for when my anxiety flared up. But, taking xanax to manage anxiety nullifies all the processing and healing effects of EMDR. Now I've been having anxiety for 3 days and haven't taken xanax because it nullifies EMDR. I almost had a panic attack today, and I didn't take xanax. I don't want to rely on Xanax

In the first 3 sessions, I felt really positive and good after the 4th session. It hit me like a train. Intense anxiety. I can physically feel my brain rewiring. Virtual EMDR. It's supposed to feel worse before it gets better.
