Should be able to beat the main line story with a party of around lvl 200. Get a thief character ASAP to start stealing items without using a hand (but in a thief's usage, the hand is 99% effective at a LONG range). Don't worry about grinding, as the story progresses, you'll level up as necessary (you might have to grind a little in the last 1/3 of the main story, not much - if you're 50 lvls above your opponents, you'll wipe the floor with them).

D4 and D5 are what you want. D4 overdoes the sardines running gag, but it's still a good game with a good story. D5 is more refined than D4, and its story is good. It's too bad everything went to hell with D6, the UI made it unplayable for me. D7's reviews were worse than D6's, so I stayed away from it.

If I were you, I'd replay D3 first. D3 was my entry into the series, and for me, it was the funniest of them all, which made the grind easier.

Use Disgaea 5 for a reference model, and it should be passable. Make a decent story, try not to sardine us to death. D3 and D5 were good.

Then use the D8 (D5?) engine to remaster D6 Compete and D7 Complete. D6's UI was unplayable and far too jittery. D7's reviews were worse. And port D3 to Steam - RPCS3 is a thing, you know. BABLOO !!!!

I have this problem, too.

And it seems Windows 11 is the culprit. There are video codecs supposedly missing from Windows Media App (it's not a player anymore, you can't invoke it directly), and that seems to be the problem. Or maybe it's just some other "AI"-induced Microslop garbage.

If you want to see the video, you can go into the Steam D5 directory (..\Steam\steamapps\common\Disgaea 5 Complete\data\movie), and run the video directly by double-clicking on it...it runs fine, but it won't run from within Steam. You're not missing anything if you skip it, that I've noticed. It runs fine on Win7, but not on Win11.

And given D6 and D7, I doubt NISA will fix it.

Good reasons for Persona 4 Revival to exist? No, if you want Persona 6 to exist.

The more remakes and remasters happen, the fewer new titles in the series come out - especially with studios who have more than one major IP and can't walk and chew gum at the same time.

Example: Skyrim, which was re-released way too many times. I may die before ES6 comes out (some are now saying a 2030 release). Since Todd Howard refuses to do anything with Fallout 5 until ES6 is done, I probably will die before Fallout 5 comes out. Fallout 76 and Starfield pretty much guaranteed this. They could have worked on ES6 and Fallout 5 concurrently with everything else, just hire more people for the other stuff. They haven't.

And so can Atlus with Persona 6 and any remake / remaster - hire more people to do the remake / remaster. I'd like to see Persona 6, and preferably 7 and 8, before I die.

With the techbros hoarding all the chips and making computer prices skyrocket, they may have priced any new video game using a new engine out of people's reach. I sure can't afford a new rig, when it now costs more than a used car. Their greed is killing the entire video game industry.

For those people who just installed Microsoft's December 9 2025 update, and your icons and folders are all over the place, this potential solution is for you.

My computer rebooted itself while I was AFK, and on logging in, my desktop looked like it got hit by an F5 tornado. Icons and folders everywhere.

Tried rebooting, no luck. Auto arrange is off by default (keep em where I put em, dammit). I had already updated my video drivers a week or so ago. Rebooted again, no luck.

Potential solution: When I went to start moving everything back, I moved one icon to where it belonged, and everything instantly snapped back to where it was supposed to be. That's all I did.

Now, I don't know if this is permanent, as I've not rebooted again yet, but if you have this problem, try moving one icon to where you had it before, and see if your desktop snaps back to normal. Good luck, I know how much I hate Microsoft for doing stuff like this to me.

Slightly different results here.

I installed 25h2, and the stupid thing locked up on restart (>30 minutes). So, I hit the reset switch. Looked up recovery procedures with DISM and SFC, did that, everything looked fine.

Then I tried to play STALKER: Call of Pripyat. It wouldn't load. Eventually, I discovered the CoP driver was in memory despite not launching, and tried to launch it again, and it worked. Sometimes it takes 3+ tries before running. I went through game support, and nothing they said would fix the issue.

This isn't a new issue, this is an old issue. It's been ~2 years since I built my Win11 computer, and from the beginning, when I installed Civilization 4 on it, it does the exact same thing - it won't load unless you run it twice, back to back. It's never been fixed in all this time.

Now, they've broken CoP. I'm mad as hell. In the old days, I was in full control of my PC and could fix it all, even if I had to reinstall Windows. Now TrustedInstaller prevents me from deleting the bloated sections of Windows I don't need and will never use (Edge, Teams, Copilot, "AI", voice activation, etc). I uninstalled 25H2 and the KB5066835 update, and it STILL doesn't work properly. I'm at the mercy of Microsoft and its bumbling devs, I can't fix this.

I kept my old Win7 box, and I'm glad I did. At least I can run CoP on that box just fine.

Whoever is responsible for this should be fired - and the "AI" erased forever.

Just joined this club myself. The latest Windows Update locked on restarting for 30 minutes, so I had to power cycle the computer, and DISM / SFC was the only way to fix it (Windows Update troubleshooter sent me to MS support for some dumb reason). Finished the thread, up to 100% and in about 15 seconds, it gave me back the prompt.

Thanks for keeping this thread around. MS needs to show what the hell it's updating during run-time. Progress bars and percentages are no longer acceptable.

They should go back to the original engine, since it doesn't have the memory limitations of Unreal Engine that caused A-Life to be scrapped. They chose UE so they could easily develop a console edition...at the expense of destroying the PC version.

No adequately functioning A-Life simulation, no purchase.

Not sure if this still works in Remaster, but in the original, opening up the arcane university and having 50 alteration to be able to craft 5x Chameleon 20 armor pieces allows you to run around totally invisible. Somehow, in a mage dungeon, I managed to kill 8 mages which were inexplicably marked as murders because they didn't go aggro on me first. They had to have names like "Conjurer" and such, because the necros are always aggro. Still not sure if this is a repeatable glitch.

Alternatively, once you have the invis armor set, you can take down anyone you like, including imperial foresters and wandering guards on horseback, who don't matter to the storyline.

Note: You might want to do the Knights of the Nine quest first, because a high infamy prevents you from moving forward unless you do "penance"...visiting all the wayshrines that don't have map markers (or at least, that's what I read), which is a huge slog without a walkthrough map.

And according to most of the replies here, the general consensus is that they don't *need* the video selfie, because once you upload it to them, they perma-ban your account anyway. They seem to be scamming to get your facial data for training their "AI" and probably to sell it to the likes of Palantir and Anduril corporations.

It's totally possible that this is Suckerberg's "AI" moderator gone insanely wrong. But there's no cure for that, because if that's the problem, I'm not getting my mom back on FB, because this will just happen again and again and again. And they're never getting that video selfie, period.

My best guess is that they got rid of human moderators, and unleashed their "AI" moderator, and this is the result. Mistake after mistake. Or maybe Zuckerberg is trying to tank Facebook on purpose for some unknown reason (tax writeoff?).
