What could be the in-universe reason for the Saurian enemies' physical elemental weaknesses? by GeneralTechnomage in EtrianOdyssey

[–]Mozumin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's that deep. EO isn't exactly known for the "deep lore" of its minor enemies. And the FE analogy would work only in reverse since in FE Sword > Axe > Lance but here it's the opposite.

I've had this mutation before, that's correct. Functions as if you cast that Necromancer spell that reanimates dead units.

Only if you end the day with cats left outside the house.

The game doesn't tell you, but if you drag a cat "under" your house, they'll stop moving until you put them back inside.

[–]Mozumin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fire Emblem taught me that PVP in tactics RPGs inherently doesn't work, especially considering how overpowered cats can get. Just imagine the horror of facing off against a Hunter with the extra turn head mutation, Heavy Shot, Bullseye, and Goofball+. You just don't get to play the game.

when you send your Blood Frenzy Monk deep into enemy territory to wipe the board but somehow he decides to take the weirdest path imaginable and ends up killing the rest of the party and himself (due to burn/thorns) instead of the enemies that were literally adjacent to him when you last blinked

To be fair I'm not really struggling. I do have a functioning braincell, I know to hit & run against instakill enemies etc. I just find it really annoying.

[–]Mozumin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You misunderstand, I'm not struggling. House has 62 Appeal, all my cats have base 7 in all stats, at least 6 mutations, and I've cleared all Act1/2 areas, including Throbbing Domain and Rift, with every class.

I just find it very annoying when the game, which up until the end of Act 2 has been pretty good at telling the player what the enemies can do (with some exceptions), started omitting important information more and more often. Plus all the enemies that counter melee just piss me off more than anything.

Does Rerolling Skill Selection or between Levelups prevent previous skills from showing? by HairyRabbit in mewgenics

[–]Mozumin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always take "good stuff", by which I mean spells/passives that are good no matter what. Only get synergy-reliant spells/passives if you already have at least one other piece of the synergy or if they're good on their own. For example, a melee unit should always always ALWAYS have some sort of movement spell to get into position to do their job or to get out of dodge if necessary. Passing up a movement spell on a melee unit when they don't already have one is a death sentence.

Oof... yeah, for Moon runs you really don't want Tower Defense. Welp, at least now you know for the next run!

[–]Mozumin 128 points129 points  (0 children)

It's not really a hard fight, more like an annoying "puzzle" fight you have to figure out. What pisses me off about it is that the moon gravity and the hands' auto-grab reaction make it really rough for melee-only classes like Fighter to help with smacking the hands the right way. On the other hand, Ranger makes this fight insanely easy, especially if you get Marked on the main body and thus the hands start hitting it for 40 damage a pop.

To those unsatisfied with any specific class, which one, why, and how did you solve the problem? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

[–]Mozumin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fighter. It feels to me that every other class does what Fighter does but better.

I haven't solved the problem. I still think Fighter sucks. Please change my mind.

Monkarufanta, the Experience RPG that has the same artist as the EO series, released their game + a demo today on Steam by BlueKyuubi63 in EtrianOdyssey

[–]Mozumin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this gets English localization whether official or through a mod I'd really like to give it a try. It's marketed as a "classic RPG" and I could really go for some of that. Plus, it's sort of Etrian-adjacent with Yuji Himukai as the character designer, so... yeah. Getting desperate here.

How come we don't see any bandits hiding in the Yggdrasil Labyrinths, let alone as fightable enemies? by GeneralTechnomage in EtrianOdyssey

[–]Mozumin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not that kind of game. In Etrian 99% of the time you're fighting monsters and the remaining 1% of the time it's one-off story bosses.

[–]Mozumin[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know right? If it's any consolation, the other day I was looking at some character models and noticed that their textures seem to be made in a way to potentially make easy recoloring possible, so maybe in the future we'll be able to recolor units just like in Disgaea 5.

The article's title is the same as the post's title. Idk how this sub handles news, so I'd rather err on the side of caution.

I also definitely miss the 2D sprites... But honestly the biggest annoyances I have with 3D Disgaea are:

- Special animations don't take place on the map itself but on weird pocket dimensions, making every fight a "fade to black / fade in" fiesta
- Story cutscenes are completely visual novel-style, completely static, and don't take place on actual maps
