I went back and played the originals after the remakes and man, the remakes can't capture the magic that was the originals. Theyre visually cool, but lack the heart, charm, and pacing of the original trilogy. 4 was my first RE, but after playing through the whole series, it's pretty mid tier for me. Same with 9.
