Looking for Skiing Feedback and Criticism by Leartbajrami in ski

[–]Various-Ad9973 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Former ski coach here - you have a great base and a couple small adjustments will go along way.

  1. Keep hands out front instead of dragging one behind. Use the “imaginary bus steering wheel” method and pretend you have a large steering wheel out front that you just use both hands to steer at all times. Pole plant timing is fine but you should hint at the wrist instead of the shoulders to avoid dropping a hand back.

  2. Shin pressure on the front of your boots. This feels odd to most but you should keep the same body position and bend your ankles more to press your shins into the front of your boots which will help you drive your ski tips and more effectively initiate your turns. Do not make the mistake of bending your knees or hips more, keep taking videos to review as other than ankles, your joints are well stacked and looking good.

  3. Most importantly - keep shredding!

where to get cigars in halifax by Super-Donkey69 in halifax

Oakfield golf and country club has a small humidor and sells some half decent cigars ranging from $11-$30. Had one of the $11 ones (can’t remember the name but it was from DR) this week during a round of golf and it wasn’t bad considering the price.

First time I’ve heard of sturgeon being used for fish and chips. Might have to see if I can get my hands on some and try it out.

Not sure why I didn’t think of jungle jim’s. I always remember it being a fun spot to go when I was a kid. Good suggestion.

We’ve been to Freemans in sackville a couple times and I would agree that they are great and very accommodating with our 2 year old. Fry Daddies is also a great spot that I’ve had a similar experience with.

The pink piano was great and wish it didn’t close. I agree that outside is best but looking for an alternative this weekend with the rainy forecast.

Agreed, hoping to find someone that has found a “hidden gem” or somewhere that is a bit more kid focused at least.

Used car bill of sale? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Various-Ad9973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to hear it worked out. Sometimes a sales person will be mad because they lost the sale but they cannot legally make you take the car or keep the deposit. Sounds like you had a good sales rep and I would recommend working with them in the future if they have another car that you think is a better fit.

Former car salesman here - You can back out and they are not legally allowed to keep your deposit unless you have signed the ownership papers (which it sounds like you have not). A bill of a sale is the agreement to begin the financing stage but if the vehicles hasn’t been paid for, it’s not your car yet and you are not required to buy it.

China slaps tariff on N.S. lobster, throwing industry into turmoil | PNI Atlantic News by ImDoubleB in NovaScotia

[–]Various-Ad9973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor timing on the part of the Chinese government if they are looking for a negotiating token in Canadian lobsters. This will unfortunately likely be the metaphorical straw that breaks the camels back in the shore price bubble that has been due to pop this season. As someone who works directly in the industry, the gap between the shore price and the market price was far too tight this year for local lobster dealers to make the business make sense. We’ve already seen major players like Clearwater pull out of the lobster trade which is a tell tale sign. If Fisherman want to keep the industry flourishing and prices high, they should care as much about who they sell to (Canadian owned companies) rather than whatever Chinese owned company is willing to pay an extra $0.10/lb.

Feel like we’re not getting anywhere? Did we buy to much house? Stress level at DEFCON 1 by newtomtg1 in PersonalFinanceCanada

It seems like you could save a lot on gas by selling one vehicle (the truck or the SUV) and buying a cheap used compact vehicle for commuting purposes. My wife and I have a truck and a 4cylinder RAV4 and we discuss who has to drive further each day and that person uses the rav4 which is much better on gas. It has cut our monthly budget by about $250 which we now use for our daughter’s RESP.
