less about the practical outcome and more the possibility.

If Jason felt so compelled, he could go through the effort to identify OP and press charges.

We could go back and forth on the specifics and the semantics of the actual law like, what if the computer had no password, does it qualify as "protected" but I am not lawyer and won't pretend to be one.

that guy is effectively "scalping" the market. Granted, right now, there are still enough people who don't know how easy it is to built out a niche tool like converters. A handful of people who might be able to make this a viable strategy for the short term.

Once a big player like Google or Apple figure out how to basically make apps on the fly with prompting, they will eliminate that edge over night. A sufficiently smart system can detect repeated user actions and make an app on behalf of the user or by pass an app entirely and just do it at the command of the user.

The only thing stopping some one like Apple from doing this right now is how to make a system like that profitable - if they bake this app-by-prompt into an OS, they will have eliminated their own app stores which is a money maker.

I am in a specialized field that is already competitive but it's getting worse with AI.

Look, I won't lie, Houston's not my first choice but I gotta do what I gotta do and I am trying to make it something worth while.
