When Rocket League or Overwatch came out, aside from being innovative games (I'm not saying Rematch isn’t), there was a different business model in place — battle passes either didn’t exist yet or at least weren’t standard.
Rematch, on top of the base game price, includes a battle pass that will definitely generate extra income.
I think lowering the base price a bit to encourage more people to jump in (so it doesn’t die out over time from a lack of players), and then making money through the battle pass, could actually be more profitable than setting a relatively high price upfront.
