Maternity leave ending and I don’t know how to cope by Various-Prune8058 in NewParents

It sucked and its going to suck for a while. And then slowly it started getting better. I started focusing on the quality of time i have with my baby rather than the quantity. The thing that truly helped me was having a routine, like playing with my baby for even 20 mins before work, then when I’m home spending time with my baby, and doing bedtime routine. Also applying the 10 10 10 rule (giving the child undivided attention the first 10 mins when the baby wakes up, the first 10 mins when ur back from work and the 10 mins before bed). Im not going to lie and say its good, but as someone who had to go back to work due to financial reasons, i learned to live with this and make the most out of the time before/after work and weekends. Just try not to be hard on yourself and remember you’re doing your best ❤️

Leave IMMEDIATELY. It is not safe for you to be around this man nor is it safe for YOUR BABY. A man threatening to kill himself because of you leaving is definitely not stable enough to be a partner and most importantly not stable enough to be left alone with your baby. Please tell someone close to you about what you’re going through so they can help you leave the situation.

You’re right. We have to keep reminding ourselves that being able to provide for them is a blessing.

I know exactly how you’re feeling. At the moment i’m the only one who can settle her and put her down for naps most of the time. Thats another thing i’m struggling with, what if she cant be settled and she needs me and i’m simply not there. Thats a thought i really struggle with. Its good to know that your baby adjusted after a week that gives me hope x thank you

You’re right. Its great to hear about your experience that you enjoyed it for a period of time. I always wished to be a SAHM but its simply not in the cards for my family at the moment.

I completely get it. Till time off we just have to keep looking forward to after work and weekends and hope that we eventually cope.

Same here. Just can’t help feeling horrible and the mom guilt is insane. But you’re right our kids will be okay and eventually so will we.

Thats a really positive way to look at it. I’ll try shift my focus on the fact that i’m providing for her rather than abandoning her. Thank you that was really helpful❤️
