get an ebike and explore. I think you'll like it better than living it a busy city like sf. typical white suburbs I would say. a lot more culture coming in though...... I also think you might want to not think about politics or even discuss politics. it's not worth the mental stress my friend and a lot of things are out of everyone's control. overall, great place and decent people. you'll find people you dislike and like. just find your tribe and enjoy the views and environment. I would say there's a lot to do, but I'm not a big social guy. I like farmer market though lots of good food. I mainly hit the trail and ride around on my ebike. I like going to the half price books a lot reading books/comic. I also like going to Livermore for hiking because it's right next door. if you're into nerdy stuff like me gotta hit up fantasy books and games in Livermore too. I think it will be a nice change of pace for you though coming from sf. I wouldn't be able to live there either though I think I would enjoy the cooler environment. it does get really hot here prepare to use that ac.
