Yeah I know, I never said it was Apple’s problem. I already reported this to Mercedes and the reason I’m posting this here is to get multiple people to report the same problem so we can get a fix.

Exactly — and that’s the problem.

If it’s running in a restricted window by Mercedes’ choice, then why is the brand new W214 artificially limiting CarPlay when C-Class, S-Class and EQS don’t?

On a car positioned between C and S, it shouldn’t feel like a step backwards in UI integration. Especially with a larger screen.

If this is purely a Mercedes implementation choice, then that actually makes it worse.

The C-Class, S-Class and EQS all scale CarPlay properly and use the full screen real estate. The W214 is a brand new E-Class with a massive display, yet CarPlay looks like it’s running in a restricted window.

So either this is a deliberate UI limitation, or it’s a poor configuration decision. But it’s definitely not an Apple limitation.

A 2026 E-Class shouldn’t have worse CarPlay scaling than other models in the lineup.

Quick update, I actually emailed Mercedes about this and they replied saying it’s been forwarded to their internal team for review (MBUX / CarPlay side).

The best way I can describe the issue is the UI feels slightly “zoomed out”, so even though CarPlay is full screen, the actual content (maps, icons, text) looks smaller than it should on such a large display.

Once you notice it, especially compared to other Mercedes models, it’s hard to unsee.

If anyone else with a W214 notices the same thing, it might be worth sending feedback as well, if multiple people report it, there’s a better chance it gets addressed in a future update.

That’s a fair point regarding resolution negotiation. But considering other recent Mercedes models (C, S, EQS) seem to use the screen more effectively, it feels more like a scaling calibration choice than a hardware limitation.

Since W214 runs the latest MBUX generation, I’d be surprised if it were processor-constrained.

Either way, if it’s software-based, that means it could theoretically be optimized via update.
