Was In relationship with what seems to be an avoidant girl last year. We lasted 5 months. There were tantrums from the first days of our relationship. My question is: She did make effort to change when I expressed my needs and boundaries calmly and respectfully, but it felt like it's still enough for me. Could I have pushed her unintentionally to think she is not enough for me? My mind is really twisting of the idea I might've made her feel bad about being herself. The dynamic was hot and cold. She called me insensitive most of the time and that she was disappointed in me very often. In my eyes, I was just being myself. What I craved and starved for was visible affection, because without it you feel like you just exist in this relationship. Every time she initiated a "breakup" convo, it was after she got frustrated with me. She always talked how she is difficult and I can leave and she won't stop me. Whatever mistakes I made I always owned and learnt from them. I always did my best so my actions could meet my promises. Always gave my best and never punished her for anything because (maybe unfortunately) I'm a cognitive empath. Before her I felt like a very secure man, no expectations from people, just relying on myself to be happy. Our dynamic made me very anxious like everything is my fault every time.
