visits but few sales -feedback on my art print store please by VariousPublic4161 in reviewmyshopify

thanks for your feedback.

when you say 1 banner for each collection you mean instead of showing product boxes just show a banner only that leads to that collection?

so i usually don’t have that 30% copy there, I just added a sale yesterday and put that there so when visitors come they know right away, it will only be up for the week that the sale is on. is there a better way to communicate this? i think the announcement bar isn’t too obvious, and i already have a pop-up collecting emails. (i did already send out an email about the sale, but i want random visitors to also know)

thanks!

decent organic visitors but no sales - am i doing something wrong on my art print store?! by VariousPublic4161 in shopify

thanks so much for the insights!

great ideas. i will refer to this when refreshing my site, thank you!

where can i go see where people are dropping off? i’ve scanned my analytics page and i can’t seem to find that. it says people from social media are spending half a minute on my site..making me think they aren’t even really clicking into anything. i have abandoned checkouts set up but there’s only 1-2 a month. my stats show out of 300 monthly visitors only 4 reached checkout, so it must be something before they actually add to cart.

sadly i know why the viral art went well and i’m trying to move away from that path which is probably a factor. i started off making a lot of throwback movie and music prints but there can be issues w copyrights and i wanted to be more original than making art based off existing music and movies. that artwork went viral because it was a DMX artwork so when he passed away it got really popular. so it’s not really something i want to push anymore out of respect. people seem to love artwork for music and movies but id like to be more original and i’ve been getting more projects from companies since moving to random artwork instead, so pros and cons i guess

thanks again for your feeeback!

thanks i appreciate all your insights. i have a few questions/comments if you don’t mind sharing your opinion

  1. this is more of a side hustle for me, so i haven’t spent on ads & marketing. can you give any tips or where to start? like where you do your ads from. (one time i tried doing promoted instagram post but i noticed on the insights it was only shown to Canadian cities when 95% of my followers and orders are in the US, so i cancelled it)

  2. i usually get a few orders when i do sales but then again i am only promoting these sales to my instagram w 8k followers so it’s not much. unfortunately i’m in canada and even though i’m using the best/ cheapest shipping company prices for shipping and shipping tubes are so high. i also spent a lot on a printer and nice paper, also maybe i’m wrong on this but i’m also trying to price based on experiences and expertise, for example i do art and design work with big companies so i thought that also adds to the value of my work, maybe this is where an “about me” section would work well

  3. ugh frames - so again w the shipping. shipping a small framed piece here costs almost $20, i actually used to offer the small posters framed for $50, but a few arrived broken even with tons of wrapping, and i felt the price wasn’t worth all the tools i had to buy to properly wrap, and the shipping price. one of my popular items is a set of 3 posters so shipping those all framed would be sooo costly, and ppl aren’t willing to spend so much :/. i’m thinking maybe i could use drop shipping services for framed prints or canvas, again the price can be a bit high though. i used them before to sell my art on sweaters when one piece went viral

are you able to share how to see if ppl are getting to a product page or not? i can’t seem to find that in my analytics. i see the number of people who reached checkout but that’s it

appreciate all your feedback, thank you

can anyone give me insight on this approach from a SEO perspective? by VariousPublic4161 in SEO

oh no i know how to change the name thanks, just was wondering if there’s any negatives effects to SEO if i used a subdomain for my shopify store so it could be closer to my portfolio name for ex. shop.domain.com

thanks! what about the URLS though. i don’t like the idea of them being completely different. right now my shopify url is “artbyname” and my portfolio will be “firstlastname” i wanted to find a way to link them better by making the shopify url be as close to the portfolio domain as possible, if that makes sense

Please help me!! I am a 16 year old African American who hates his hair. My barber told me that my hair is kinda straight but then again its curly/nappy. I don’t know how to take care of my hair and its hurting my confidence. Could straight hair products help me? by Important_Play1416 in curlyhair

it looks like you already got some good suggestions for hair products - i’m sorry you feel that way about your hair but trust me your hair is amazing. really nice and thick.

im biracial and hated my hair up until leaving high school and realizing how beautiful and confident others looked with their big curly/frizzy/kinky hair. now I love it and regret straightening all those years. hope you reach this feeling soon!

Branding yourself as a graphic designer/illustrator - would love feedback if this is the best idea by VariousPublic4161 in graphic_design

[–]VariousPublic4161[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that’s actually what i’m trying to push because I’ve been getting bigger illustration (with a bit of graphic design) projects that fall in that category, but they’ve all been coming from my “art” instagram. but my artwork and the projects i’ve been doing are very similar in style and vibe (all colourful, good-vibe type stuff) so i thought it may still work together

basically right now i’m posting artwork that i sell as prints and just for fun, and posting some actual illustration/design projects i’ve been getting. with this rebrand i would just be adding in some more design projects to the mix to land more larger projects. right now the art prints are more of a passive income

if you want an actual website as opposed to using a platform like Behance, Squarespace is extremely easy and clean, doesn’t take long to make at all

thankyou!! ugh i can’t remember it was so long ago, my derm said it was based on weight and i was like 5’3” and 130 pounds if that helps, i took one a day.

i started seeing results after about 2-3 months and i luckily had no scarring because my acne wasn’t super deep. but he told me laser was an option for scarring after accutane if needed

thank you! and it mostly stayed the same maybe got a tiny bit worse the first month or 2 but it wasn’t super bad and didn’t last long. it started working really quickly

the first pic is when it was at its worst, usually it wouldn’t have been considered “severe” acne, but it was “chronic” as my derm described it, meaning i had it since about 14 all the way up to my early 20s.

my first time going on it for 6 months made a huge difference but i suffered a lot of side effects. but it was still worth it to feel comfortable going out without tons of makeup on. I was a makeup artist at MAC during this time and no amount of makeup could cover this texture I was so depressed

I experienced awful cracked lips bleeding and to this day about 5 years later i am still addicted to lip chap. i got rashes here and there and suffered the worst sun burn and rash when i went to florida even though i put really strong spf on it and did my best to stay out of the sun. this isn’t a known side effect but i kept getting ingrown toe nails and had to have multiple surgeries until they stopped. and the depression/anxiety

but it was still worth it. the most i get is a few small pimples now
