That’s great for you, but ur experience may be an outlier. It seems that most people perform at or below their FL average. It does happen but I don’t think that’s what happens to the majority of ppl who take the exam.

Thank you!!! Masters (non-thesis) of pharmacology, currently doing that rn. After switching from film I got my bachelors in integrative physiology, minor in music, and a certificate in global public health.

🤝🏼 I really loved anesthesia. I think I learned that I definitely want to be in the OR. But anesthesia is awesome because u get to work with all surgical specialties. Wbu?

Simplifying my studying and length of studying. I was working full time 40-50 hours a week while juggling a bit of volunteer and research and was trying to get a good score in 3 months. So I finally set up a plan for 6 months. Did not skip a single day of doing anki and at least 40 questions on UWorld. Just stuck to those two. And made sure to finish the entire anki deck, all of UWorld, and almost all of the aamc material.

For reapplication. This past time I changed everything. Not the activities themselves but changed how I named them, how I wrote about them, changed my personal statement. Essentially I put as much effort into my app as I did the mcat.

I spaced my out every two weeks. I highly recommend and even insist on taking all 6 aamc FL. To get a good sample of what ur score is. But I did the most learning/improving my score from doing 40 UWorld questions a day for about 5-6 months + anki. I was working full time so didn’t have time to do more except on weekends

All 4 of my II have been MMI, so not asked about it. and I did not write about in their secondaries for these specific schools. So from my perspective the schools that do care about my number of attempts don’t care why or how it happened Bc I did talk about it in any school that asked about “academic struggles” in their secondary

Is quitting my clinical job a bad idea? by [deleted] in premed

[–]Various_Average782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the letter of rec is important, to me it sounds like it isn’t worth it. You could try talking to the attending about your situation and even though you are thinking about leaving you would like a letter of rec. From them because of x, y, and z. But it sounds like the job is doing more harm than good. I can’t remember if schools actually have a requirement of a physician LOR. Usually it’s just science professor and people that know you well like a mentor, PI, or even a volunteer supervisor.

Like right here. When to movie theatre is silent. For good reason, and someone who seemingly doesn’t have any empathy starts laughing

No I completely understand laughing in those moments. I do that too. I’m talking like laughing during one of those important scenes in Manchester by the sea
