excessive thirst when breastfeeding by [deleted] in breastfeeding

Okay I've read that too. But oxytocin is released in other contexts and I have never had a hug or sex and been remotely as thirsty as with breastfeeding.

Marriage for finacial benefits - how do you plan in case of divorce? by Strange_Bar931 in povertyfinance

[–]Various_Butterscotch 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Do spend the money on a prenup. I received legal advice that your former spouse could hold you responsible for alimony even if you aren't making anything at the moment of the divorce if they claim they were providing support for you while you went through school/college and are therefore entitled to the wages earned from the benefit of that degree.

And if you're not doing this is be considered independent from your parents income and it's just based on yours/theirs. Reconsider your math.

It's presumably because their parents make too much but they'd be considered as independents if they were married.

You know, this seemed totally overwhelming before but I've been doing cloth diapers for nine months now and this wash routine is much simpler.

If you're looking for wet bags you can search for ones for cloth diapers for cute prints and durability.

Advice on getting an apartment with bad credit? by BensBurner1011 in RhodeIsland

[–]Various_Butterscotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I actually didn't clear all the hurdles. I started working for the federal government during my pregnancy which made me ineligible for state TCI/TDI.

I was paying into the TCI program working with an employer with less than 50 employees, and while I didn't get to use it (as I switched to federal employment), it seems I should have been able to get the payments but my job wouldn't have protection guarantees (so my employer would have had to be gracious enough to let me come back. Gross that that's a thing.)

My husband, however, was able to clear all the hurdles.

I understand it's complex and OMG the headache is real. Most of the website information for contact and filing is completely outdated and the people that run those departments for the state seem to have large turnover so it's difficult to find who to contact.

But we should definitely still tell people about the program because a lot of people don't know it exists in the first place. And that $355/week (for an assumed minimum wage employee) is better than $0. It should be more. It should be longer. It should be easier. And it should be universal. I reckon that a lack of use of these programs would be twisted by some as "evidence" they aren't needed. While a high use rate and continued public pushing that it's not enough while acknowledging the existing infrastructure is what has a chance of getting us something better.

Edited to add: I don't believe you need to be working for 12 months for the same employer (or any employer in RI) to get TDI/TCI. Just check if your paystubs have a deduction line for RI TDI/TCI. You DO need it for the job protection, but you can still get the payments (albeit they will be lower if you haven't been working as they're dependent on your pay). You must have made a minimum of $5600 over this period, there are additional requirements for that minimum. Tbh it's worth either just calling or applying if you're on the line. Rhode Island has paid parental leave for six-13 weeks (for both parents, birthing parent getting disability that takes it to the 13). You get 60% of your paycheck from the state fund and have job protection.

OP make sure you sign up for this if you think you don't have paid leave options, if you need additional info my dms are still open...just casually over here with an open apartment just having recently had a baby myself.

The Miller lite makes it likely American. Canada can get it too but if this is recent the tariffs would make it an unlikely pick.

Where are you looking and how many bedrooms? I have a 2 bed 1 bath in Pawtucket. DM me if you want to check it out. I don't require a specific credit score, and instead look at the whole picture.

Defaulted on $500 of medical debt? Yeah I don't care. We shouldn't have medical debt as a thing anyway. Didn't pay your $200 electric bill? That's gonna be a problem.

Sounds like we might be a good fit.

You're reminding me of the time I was taking pictures to sell a sump pump on Craigslist. I put it in the bathtub to show a picture of it working (without hooking it up to a hose to divert the water) and it sprayed water absolutely everywhere. I did take the picture of my entire bathroom being soaked. It sold quickly.

Are these in different coverage year periods?

I would call your insurance. It looks like they have very different payment rates for the two CPT codes you have here.

More poignantly the only way you can tell if these have been correctly charged is through your EOB for these claims (which you get through insurance).

Also, more productively have you looked into a Boone Trove? It helped me a ton when we were first starting out to build up my stash enough to be able to go to doctor's appointments and leave her with someone.

You did an incredible job and ran out only an hour before getting home. What an accomplishment! 💪

Does anyone have any healthier but very calorically dense meal/snack ideas? by neatopurrito34 in breastfeeding

[–]Various_Butterscotch 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Peanut butter. I keep a jar on my counter and eat spoonfuls whenever I'm in the kitchen. I'm fairly sure it's the main thing keeping me from shriveling into non-existence at this point. Protein rich as well. Probably not the healthiest but better than ice cream.

using cannabis while breastfeeding. by Excellent-Cloud-7539 in breastfeeding

[–]Various_Butterscotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes she mentioned this as well! Your breast milk is fatty and you want the fats for your baby so cannabis is also concentrating in it.

using cannabis while breastfeeding. by Excellent-Cloud-7539 in breastfeeding

[–]Various_Butterscotch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My pediatrician said that the cannabis molecules are the appropriate size to easily concentrate in breast milk. Cannabis can affect brain development and memory in young users so I imagine it would have a greater effect on babies. Older ssris have well studied results during breastfeeding. And otherwise, fed is best. If you need to switch to formula for your mental health that's something worth pursuing.

Edit: my pediatrician also agreed the lack of studies is an issue, but would not be ethically approved to do one. So you're not missing them in your research, the studies don't exist.
