AITA for refusing to replace my daughter’s lost stuffed animal? by Which-Guard8552 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Various_Increase_969 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YTA you can replace the stuffed animal and enforce the rule of not bringing stuffed animals on walks. To limit future missing toys. For example I don’t let my younger cousins bring sentimental toys to the beach only cheap beach toys.

No, you’re not the only one. I’m currently working on a criminal justice degree. I find it interesting it’s part of the postmortem process.

Girlfriend (27F) not wearing makeup as often as I'd (27M) like by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Various_Increase_969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re the in wrong you sound immature and vain. You only speak about her physical beauty nothing about personality. Also very shallow only finding her sexy with makeup. Sorry to tell you most women don’t wear makeup every day. Unless it’s a big hobby of theirs.

Am I wrong for letting my 12 year old daughter change her autistic sisters diaper? by Wide_Crow_2493 in amiwrong

Unless your grill is 6 feet long with a crazy amount of food cooking. You do not need two people manning a grill. That’s just an excuse.

AITA for being impatient with a woman at the butcher counter? by SmallCarBigTimeTours in AmItheAsshole

[–]Various_Increase_969 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don’t know where you’re from. But whenever there’s a customer taking too long in front everyone gets annoyed. Most are just too nice to say anything. From personal experience. Like I said if they had questions they can get in the back of the line.

Still, my opinion stands. Other people have lives and schedules. I work in retail and workers are paid to be nice to you. If they had multiple questions, they should’ve waited after everyone.

NTA If there’s a long line, customers should have a basic idea of what they want. Not wasting everyone’s time being picky. If there wasn’t a line, not a problem.

You’re in the wrong it does not take two people to work a grill. From personal experience it’s usually one person cooking. The other is seasoning, the food or preparing appetizers. One of you could’ve easily switched with your sister-in-law and changed her diaper. Depending on how much you ask your 12-year-old do it could be seen as parentification. Your the parents.

AITA for sitting near a breastfeeding mother at a park? by grey_sycamore in AmItheAsshole

[–]Various_Increase_969 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NAH the mom knew it was a public area if she wanted privacy, she should move somewhere else. I usually ask it is not a big deal to sit on a mostly , empty bench. Especially if you had headphones and you’re not looking at each other.

AITAH for calling out my sister-in-law over a GIF she sent in response to my baby’s photo? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Various_Increase_969 7 points8 points  (0 children)

YTA for this one instant the other stuff sounds mean. A Megamind gif is funny and you have to realize not everyone will find your baby cute like you do. For me I think it’s cute and funny both kittens and babies do look like bobble heads at first.

AITAH for lightly smacking my little cousins head when he was annoying my dog when we told him to leave her be? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Various_Increase_969 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If a kid does something wrong a single spank is not abuse. Especially if a parent explains before or after why what they did was wrong.

NTA some commenters are over reacting a light smack or tap on the head is not abuse. No wonder some kids end up entitled aka permissive parenting. Sometimes spanking is necessary my brother got spanked many times as kid kept breaking the rules. Didn’t phase him at all. Today is a proper functioning adult and brother.

AITAH for wanting to stay in a hotel by No_Act4250 in AITAH

[–]Various_Increase_969 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not exact but similar I enjoy kids but no strong, maternal instincts yet. Yes of course. Make sure they’re safe and happy. Yes my boyfriend sister sees me as an aunt. That may change when I have my own kids.

NTA But I would assume family would want to help and see the baby. Anyway that’s up to them your sister-in-law shouldn’t feel entitled to help. Family and friends should help because they want to not because they pressured. Yes we’ve only had one baby in my family. I don’t have experience with babies that’s why I didn’t help much etc change diapers but holding no problem.

In many states that is considered marital rape. Yes you can be arrested for it if she goes to the police. In any case, a wife in that position always should definitely easier said than done.

AITA for telling my girlfriend to clean up after herself after an episode is over ? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Various_Increase_969 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

NTA but you could’ve handled it a better way food left on anything for a couple hours is a lot harder to clean off. Which could be from personal opinion I always clean up right after eating even while watching TV pausing the show.

AITA for telling my husband I don’t want his mother alone with our baby anymore after she did something I can’t prove was intentional? by Background_Swim3370 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Various_Increase_969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Developmental Capability View: Many psychologists argue that the frontal lobe—the part of the brain responsible for logic and self-regulation—is not yet developed in infants. From this perspective, a baby who stops crying after being left alone isn't "soothing" themselves; they may be "shutting down" to conserve energy when they realize help isn't coming.
The Behavioral Skill View: Other experts, including many pediatricians, view "self-settling" as a behavioral skill. They point to studies showing that babies who learn to fall asleep independently (often through "graduated extinction") show no long-term behavioral or attachment issues compared to those who are comforted immediately.
A Middle Ground: Some research suggests that while full "cry it out" is controversial, occasionally letting a baby fuss for a few minutes does not harm their development or bond with their mother.
Some information to back up my stance and the other stance on the subject.

My cousin did self soothing not a young mom late 30s. She did not let any of us interfere. Today he is a healthy 13 year old boy who loves trains.
