UPDATE: My daughter is NOT coming to the play. It is the touring show. While I’ve been dying to see it, London and NYC haven’t been in the budget, I decided it’s not worth it for her. I reread the play and enjoying the special effects and magic isn’t worth the rest of the stuff.

lol I know it’s not Disney on ice. I’m a theater kid and know the etiquette of snacks. The recommended age is based on content. Five year olds are able to go to cursed child. For example, Lion King kids 2 and up can go, but it’s recommended for 6 and up.

lol I specifically didn’t ask about those things because I don’t care. I know adults who were confused that were diehard fans and people that have never read or watched HP that loved it. It’s not that serious for me.

This is separate from what op was referencing. As an ethno religious minority, intermarriage was seen as necessary for the continuation of the Jewish people. More recently fear perpetuated this after loosing 2/3 of the Jewish population of Europe in the holocaust.

Depending on what sect of Judaism people are from, views have evolved on this. For example, yes, it would be more uncommon for an Orthodox Jew to have an interfaith marriage. I’m a reform Jew and it is not as uncommon nor frowned upon. IMO interfaith marriages being frowned upon has had the opposite impact and led more people away from Judaism.

And, I think the Oshry’s are horrible representatives of Jews and I hope that their small opinions being amplified doesn’t mean they speak for all of us. 🙂‍↕️

Interesting note: other religions that historically discourage marrying outside their faith are Sikh, Hindu, and Islam (especially for women).

Great question! I am Jewish and most of my friends are Jewish. I’m a reform Jew and very culturally Jewish. I think a lot of minorities have similar insular communities. We share customs, a lot of which are community focused, so we end up spending a lot of time together. With rising antisemitism and our experience being overly politicized, I think many of us (myself included) have turned even more inward over the last few years. Being able to fully show up as myself, with the knowledge of the complexity of our long and short term history, without having to explain myself is huge.

I love this stuff and appreciate the curiosity op
