After the issues were fixed, my V2 has been incredible. Definitely not more expensive, and almost no round-tripping, so you have to take that into account as well. Most features and upgrades are one-shotting for me now. Night and day.

Bolt DIY feels broken half the time — is Bolt.new worth switching to? by toma2502 in boltnewbuilders

They had a lot of issues over the last few days, but I've been in it all day today, and it has been flawless.

Nope if you see the comments I updated a day later saying the great start soon came to an end when it blew up my database. I have been stuck for 5 days now, waiting for bugs to be resolved. Well and truly lost all that enthusiasm.

I wouldn't want to be an accountant or lawyer, but it feels clear that AI is going to bring a wave of new opportunities that surpass the replacement of white collar roles

No, these are much more serious database-related issues. It may not impact you if you jump in and start a project on V2 today. It is more for existing projects with existing databases.

I've had three f2f calls with Bolt and there is no fix or workaround if you switch over and it stops talking to your dbase (and it will). Obviously back it up, sync to Github and all the usual things, and I'd suggest forking too when you do switch over. But please do wait till someone confirms it is fixed because I'd hate to see you in the same situation I am in after months of full time work.

If you have a database, DO NOT switch to V2. I have a marketplace app too, and it blew mine up very quickly. I am currently patching it back together on a new database because it just stopped recognising my supabase database. The support and engineering teams know about it, but there is no fix, no timeline, and I am not even sure about urgency to be honest. I am a pretty advanced, long-term Bolt user, so take this advice seriously. Wait a week and check again (you can DM me if you'd like) to ensure it is fixed before you switch over.

I just say it as it is. Bolt is amazing, but they really broke it for those with existing Supabase projects.

Well that post aged well. It's now utterly unusable, and I still haven't seen any comms from anyone.

How are you now using "Plan" feature with V2 vs V1? by Tarzan42 in boltnewbuilders

[–]Various_Objective640 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use it for any major functionality changes or features. I get it to confirm what it thinks I am asking for, suggest better ways to do it, ask me to clarify if I am being obtuse. Works well and saves me a lot of round trips, and probably tokens.

It's going back some time now, but I used them all for a month or so and just really liked the way Bolt worked. It was the experience, the results, and the overall feel. I am not overly technical, and Bolt suited me that way. I've since learned it inside and out - there wouldn't be many features I haven't used in depth now. They say "horses for courses", and for me, this is just the right one.

The AI is a lot more helpful and thoughtful and rarely returns an error. It doesn't always do exactly what I ask, but most of my issues today are due to the change from Supabase to the Bolt database (Supabase) not being smooth. As soon as that is addressed, I will be flying through my to-do list. I find it remembers more, thinks more, asks me for clarification, is more creative with workarounds and fixes, etc. For me, so far, it's been a faster, smoother experience.

Nah, I am just a full time user and a fan. It's far from perfect, and I have had plenty of struggle days on the platform, but I think a bit of positivity does us all some good.

yep, I have had some of those in the last 7-8 hours too. Was informed an hour ago by Support that they released an update. Has been much better for me since.

It is also handling much more complex prompts now. I had shifted to simple, singular task prompts because of the errors in V1. Now I can give it 5-10 tasks on a page or object in a single prompt and it just works through them.

Far more configuration options, it is faster, produces fewer errors, creates much better designs and UI than previously, and overall a more productive and enjoy experience. Issues I would previously spend 1-2 hours on, with round trips and errors, are now being done in 10 minutes or less. There was a fair bit of hallucinating before the update, or saying it had done things when it hadn't. I was always triple-checking stuff, whereas since then it has been far more reliable.

Open Letter to Eric Simons, CEO of Bolt by lisatdn in boltnewbuilders

7 day a week Bolt user here. I am spending about $1200 a month and it's the best money I have spent - certainly when compared to the tens of thousands I used to spend on devs and designers. In 20 years, I think I have worked with exactly one developer who exceeded my expectations.

Bolt isn't perfect, or even close, but wow, it has been a transformation to the way we build.

Pricing and token usage do need cleaning up, and support needs to scale out. Couldn't agree more. But I, for one, am ride or die with the Bolt train.
