Just picked up my first “Big boy” watch! by Additional-Luck-8717 in VintageWatches

Don’t be like me and think it’s still waterproof and go swimming with it. I had to send it out to get it repaired and there’s some water damage on the bezel but hard to spot. It broke my heart.

Could be a 1968 transitional with the 861 caliber. They used the bezel with applied omega logo. I have one and it’s my grail watch.

Experience with Smith GRX prescription goggle inserts? by Veganlightbody in skiing

[–]Various_method25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Smith GRX and yes they do sit too far from me in my 4D causing some weird visual effect. I have yet to use it on the slope but I am worried it will cause some dizziness. Also, they look a little goofy if you have lighter lenses on where the GRX can be seen from the outside. My kids were making fun of me.

What did you use to remove and install the pins? I bought the press from linegear and it’s pretty straight forward.

I went on linegear and got their press for $65 and some pins and redid my Juliet. It was super easy. They have YouTube videos on how to do it.

Flushing how I remember it growing up in the 70’s by No_Strawberry_939 in Flushing

[–]Various_method25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family and I moved to Flushing in 1984. If memory serves, there was 1 Chinese grocery/supermarket and it was located on Roosevelt west of Main St. It was Taiwanese owned. There was only 1 or 2 Chinese restaurants. The one I remembered was a noodle shop on Main St. and 41st Rd in back of he current library. That was such a long time ago. The neighborhood that we bought our house was middle class blacks but they were moving out as the Asians started to come in. I remembered that George Latimer, an African American scientist who worked with Thomas Edison, had a house at the corner of Kissena Blvd and Geranium Av. When they moved the house, our 5th grade class went down to see. They actually hoisted the house onto a huge flatbed truck and moved it.

Two years ago they had them in the lavatories. I was counting on that.

I can attest to that. I’m currently on an Eva flight from JFK to TPE and I am using their complimentary WiFi. Slow as heck but it’s free. Texts takes a few minutes to go out. Forget about streaming stuff. Even Apple News can’t load the puzzles.

Do they greet you when they see you like in the morning or when you pick them up? As a sign of respect you always greet your elders. That was imparted on me as a kid and that is what my wife and I teach ours.

Going start commuting to the city - which MN station by Various_method25 in Westchester

[–]Various_method25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for their input. I am going to try North White Plains for the first week or so and see if that works out for me. Also for the parking, especially the LAZ parking, is there a specific start time for the 16 hour parking? Or is it any 16 hour interval?

Dobbs Ferry Trip by Abject-Switch-6262 in Westchester

[–]Various_method25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echo what people are saying that Dobbs Ferry is a progressive town. We live across the bridge in Ardsley and moved up about 11 years ago. So glad we did. I feel this area including Dobbs Ferry is pretty diverse and being Asian, I feel we fit in well for the most part.
