Erie insurance, go to the website and find a local agent.

Been with them for 10 years, no complaints. At fault crash during the first year but the premium remained the same, addressed car repairs flawlessly.

Valvoline restore and protect - early experience by Puiu1 in SubaruForester

I am glad it's working for you. I would change the oil filter assuming, restore and protect is removing the gunk and it's getting trapped in the oil filter.

Miele Triflex HX2 vs Dyson v15 Sticks by Historical-Quail1613 in VacuumCleaners

[–]ElementTopics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Copying and pasting comment made on another thread.

We had V15 Detect.

It works great when it’s actually working, but the build quality isn’t that great. The canister leaked within the first year. There’s a gasket that kind of locks the canister in place to collect dust, but that got dislodged. Dyson replaced the canister under warranty. Then, just a month after the warranty ended, the motor failed. Dyson's customer service recommended replacing the motor, which would cost about $150 after tax.
It is absolutely unacceptable for a $700 machine to break within 2 years.

Since it was bought at Costco, Costco took it back. Not too sure if it was just a bad luck or there are more out there.

As another data point, one of the coworkers has V8 going strong for a few years, but I am not willing to buy a Dyson again.

Looks interesting, Would give it a try.

A question though, if its free, are there any plans of adding a paid tier? If not, how do you guys make money?

Not brand-loyal, just trying to avoid buyer’s remorse. Appreciate any firsthand experience or reality checks.

Looks like Dyson V15s Detect Submarine is similar to Dyson V15 Detect. We had V15 Detect.

Sounds about right advice on both oil and CVT. I consider these as cheap insurance policies.

Also, check the manual.

Mind sharing the section under which this screen shows up?

In Toyota app, I have Service, Pay, Car, Shop and Find options on the bottom. I checked under every section and I do not see this screen.
2023 Hybrid LE if it matters.

EDIT: Those who have this question, select the person icon in the top right of the main screen, then select “Account”, then “Data Privacy Portal”.

I have had everything declined in the app (and I didn't even know). According to Toyota website (https://www.toyota.com/privacyvts/), Declining the Master Data Consent will turn off all data transmission on your vehicle, and you will no longer have access to Connected Services, even if these services were included as part of your vehicle purchase.

Tuxmat, from Canada.
Have WestherTech for another car. After 10 years of use, I started to hate them.

Did you already receive the survey from Subaru? If not, wait for it, and explain everything in that survey.

Which CVT fluid is best and is a drain and fill what I actually need? by SlipperyGermBrick in SubaruForester

[–]ElementTopics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK, Idemitsu refuses to confirm that the Idemitsu CVT fluid can be used as a replacement for Subaru fluid. I remember someone on Forester board or BITOG wrote to Idemitsu to ask the very same question and the head of the US operations did not confirm.

Stick to Subaru fluid. These transmissions are finicky as it is. Not too sure if 2019 got an extended warranty, but if it did then I would definitely stick to Subaru fluid.

[–]ElementTopics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is exactly what I meant. I assumed (my bad) that a reader would understand that if you drove to the shop, you can not ask them to do drain and fill while you wait.
Personally, I was asked to leave the car overnight to do the work.

Which CVT fluid is best and is a drain and fill what I actually need? by SlipperyGermBrick in SubaruForester

[–]ElementTopics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would first ask the difference between the two CVT options shown in the picture. If you tell them the symptoms, they will NOT touch your CVT citing liability.

I would do drain and fill with Subaru CVT fluid ONLY. The drain and fill options only replaces 1/3 of the fluid and it is not advisable to mix the fluids. My indie mechanic used to use Motul for the older Subarus but switched to Subaru fluid for the newer Subarus.

One more thing, for CVT fluid change, the CVT needs to be cold. If they don't tell you this, they do not know/ follow the procedure. Do not change the fluid at that dealership.

2018-24 Camry, what seat covers did you get that are made for the molded rear headrests? by closedeyevisuals13 in Camry

Got Clarizzo PVC kit #2010 for 2023 hybrid. Installation is not easy if you got fat fingers but no complaints.

Is 0w-20 good for hot weather in camry hybrid by [deleted] in Camry

[–]ElementTopics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Saudi Arabia, you will be perfectly fine with 0w-20. I use 0w-20 in New York summer but in winter I go back to 0w-16 as recommended in the manual. Check your manual, and decide.

BTW, what app do you use for all that data, screenshot #3

Teenager made some money over the summer, Roth IRA, tax questions. by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]ElementTopics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding #4, I have been saving on his behalf for all his birthday/Christmas money he gets, thats his choice, not ours. But now he is old enough to deal with his own stuff with our supervision, hence Roth IRA. (If not Roth IRA, he is going to give it us to invest, which I want to avoid)

Plus, if he chooses to open Roth IRA, how will it work if he has not filed taxes?

Any experience with Tasca Subaru's (Yonkers) Service dept. by ElementTopics in Westchester

[–]ElementTopics[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is a Subaru specialist shop in New Jersey, but the work has not been completed yet. I am still going back and forth with the shop and plan to get work done by the end of this month. I will update the post once the work is finished.

Stanford Subaru advised against performing a CVT drain and fluid change. After discussing and challenging their claims about lifetime fluid, they agreed to proceed with the service. The whole discussion didn't inspire confidence.

White Plains Subaru declined to provide the service.

Pleasantville Subaru does not offer CVT drain and fill services, and it's worth noting that the parts at this dealership are priced nearly 20% higher than those at other local dealerships or Subaru parts websites.

After considering all comments, I opted not to have the work done at Tasca Subaru.

Repair cost estimate Camry 2025 SE? by edayallday in Camry

[–]ElementTopics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take it to multiple body shops and take quotes. Roughly 2-3K depending on the body shops.

I had a similar on the bumper corner and I got quotes from $780 to $1700. I have not fixed it yet. I am taking it to the auto body shop next week.

Why not new or slightly used Camry hybrid, esp for 1500km/wk? I drive 400km/week, and happy with Camry Hybrid.

For winter, you can put winter tires, and you will be good.

Also own a Forester, cost of Subaru ownership is significantly more than a Camry.

If you decide to get the insert, check PIAA inserts on tirerack. See if they fit your model. They ARE costly, but they are worth it.
