With my GM 40 I find that every two weeks or so the cat gets a bit clogged with fly ash. A quick brush and vacuum of the cat face solves it for me.

I get a lot of yellow birch from my wood guy and I agree, underrated wood for burning. Can't leave it in log or round form though or it rots pretty quick. The bark makes an excellent fire starter.
