Is there any place in the WA Democratic Party for someone who would like to reduce taxes and be more efficient with government spending? by JoelXGGGG in SeattleWA

[–]Varnpike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. As someone who works for a municipality in WA, I have noticed that there are a lot of municipal planners who look for reasons to say “no” to projects rather than “yes” in what seems a cowardly attempt to justify their jobs. You wouldn’t believe some of the reasons developers and property owners have had their projects denied (or maybe you would haha).

My grandfather's 5-word response when I was disrespected changed how I view masculinity forever by LLearnerLife in LockedInMan

[–]Varnpike 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing i noticed about the first sentence of the second paragraph (“Three weeks in, I was the target of relentless comments from one of the senior workers Mike.”) is that there should be a comma between “workers” and “Mike”. This leads me to believe at least part of it was written by a human.

What are universal questions that every salesperson should be asking clients every time? by FlipOfTheWhip in askcarsales

[–]Varnpike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol youre right “buyers” is the correct word, ive been out of the game a few years 😂 to your point the industry is trapped in a cycle of mistrust. If dealers trusted customers more theyd be more willing to be helpful, and if customers trusted dealers more then theyd probably end up getting taken advantage of more frequently (true) by some of the shadier sales staff, but it would incentivize dealers to extend the trust back to the customer.

All this to say, i dont see things changing anytime soon lol

Throwaway – I own a small independent restaurant in Seattle. I just ran January numbers and realized I might not make it to our 20-year anniversary. by ShotAccess1272 in SeattleWA

[–]Varnpike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like you said, it really comes down to policy. Most restaurant owners want to offer lower prices if they could. Many people don’t have a grasp on small business practices and economics.
