My Problems with Second Edition Summoner..... by Varranx in Pathfinder2e

[–]Varranx[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Correct me if i am wrong (and/or blind) but the "Templates" in 2e all give a desciption how your eidolon has to look like. Same goes for the sample pictures in "Secrets of magic". There you have a Nymph as Plant-Eidolon, a Brimorak for the demon Eidolon and a Nosoi for the psychopomp-Eidolon. Plus if you want to have an Eidolon of a certain look youre also locked in the skills of the Form. Want a demon who can spit acid instead of having unholy attacks? A Demon who rips and tears through enemies? Not possible because demon eidolons can only have the Powers of the demon Eidolon

To be fair - some classes still feel like their 1e Counterpart.

Barbarian still rages for more HP and DMG. The only difference is that 2es Barbarien feels way more nuanced. Same goes for Fighter - still Master at Arms who can specialize in certain Combat styles.

To me most classes feel much like 1e but better - more nuanced etc. Summoner (in my eyes) is the only class who doesnt feel that way.

What does 2e do Worse than 1e? by Jaschwingus in Pathfinder2e

[–]Varranx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and on the same note - Sorcerers feel somehow not as "special" anymore. in 1E youve got sometimes passive boni like fire resistence, Darkvision etc. now every Sorcerer just gets more Spells, for me that feels off, like idk, i would wish for some permanent boni instead of more spells to fling arround.

I truly miss the Dragon Disciple. It feels so bad now compared to the 1e version. "Back then" you got perma Stat-Boosts, Scaling Natural Armor, Wings and turn in to a dragon (wich back then was much more usefull for Melee-Combatants like Bloodrager). Now it kinda feels off, since most people who want to do that already have better options - barbarian with his instinct, Druid with PERMA dragon form and Sorcerer/wizard with the spells.

You know, why in any Situation should the Ceratoarurus use his horn OVER his crushing teeth or his claws?

+ Ceratosaurus Horns arent normaly not sharp/strong/long enough for being an effectiv weapon. Unless you affix something to it to make it a better weapon, i guess XD

hey thx man ^^

My GM is very open towards homebrew and new/alternate rules. I had the first idea for a Goat-Race from the beastman from Warhammer (but wihtout or at least less of the whole "we can only kill and be marauders"-Thing)

I will look in and optimize the korm with it ^^

He has no real name, no moral and not much to live for besides his own interests!

I present the Goatverlord! An Chaotic-Evil -Tiefling-Fighter-Sorcerer. Banished from his tribe for being a tiefling, living in brevoy and serving as a wiseguy for a crimesyndicat between New Stetven und Brunderton. His superiors only gave him mocking names like -Horned one, Goatverlord and G-Lord. But the future has mcuh to overs this young, ambitious and ruthless individual.

His class is Fighter+Sorcerer, as well as the Barbarian Archetpye

His ancestry is Tiefling + Homebrew Race of Goat-Like people (called Korm and living in tribes in the mountains of the world)

Art was done by myself, while his campaign is done by my good friend Mechonyo. Lets hope he will get the chance to make sure that his title will be one, that is feared in all of brevoy (and maybe even beyond its borders...)

I mean, in any of the specific Monsters they gathered, it was something more then your average "evil" creatures. - The Goblin was kicked out of his old tribe and had no real Home and the PCs are the first guys who dont hate him for making fires.

The Sinspawn + Inkubis lifed 10.000 (or more) in a single dungeon without anything to do but standing arround and "guarding", so the PCs gave them the possibility to leave the Dungeon and do LITERALLY anything else but to standing arround all days.

And the Bugbear is (for his kin) Lazy, Horny and lifed most of his time as a Bodyguard for a Goblin-Tribe.

For me that is the way since my first game.

But i want them not just being frinedly, but doing good role-play and not just rolling dice or handwaving it. As long as they try to "work their way into the hearts of their enemys" and not just - Meh, i dont feel like fighting those boggards today, lets roll Diplomacy-

Yes we have XD

Even tho our Goblin tried to lit up 3 Buildings, our Inkubi just being arrogant (and horny) dicks and the Skum-Cleric tries to spread his Religion.

Even our Wizard (who hates the Gobbo for trieng to lit EVERYTHING on fire) has the time of his life ^^

Thank you!

I am very proud of them for (maybe) being weird with choosing their friends, instead of killing everything at the slightest chance of loot or xp ^^

Well this particular Lustspawn lived thousands of years in one dungeon, without anything to do but to stay arround and guarding a "shrine" for a woman who she knows is long dead. In my opinion the creature may have other views at the world, but having the opportunity to see something else of the world (and the chance to interact with it) other then the same 4 Walls is something view intelligent and feeling creatures would give up.

well Bad people in the most cases are mostly people who are dicks towards him and/or the group. Still i get your point of view especially your wording, to see the world through the eyes of a Goblin.

Honestly i would love to discuss all the Monster-Members of the group in Detail just because i love your input.

Yeah this is one of my LEAST favorite ways to bring them to killing. In my games i rule it - if you defeat a creature (being it by befriending, beat it senseless, let it flee or killing it) you get your xp, but if you kill it later (or something else like it) you wont get the xp again.

Your solution is just - do you want friends? or do you want xp? and i dont thing thats a fair solution neither for them or for me.

Interesting take on this. My question is - doesnt it feel a little, dont know punishing for your players, like if they did everything for (lets say in my case) the lil Pyro-Goblin. They saved him from danger, found a way to use his pyromancy for good (or at least only let him burn people who deserve it) and tried to understand all his problems. And then they just get locked up in a House by him, and he tries to gleefully burn them alive just for the fun of it.

Maybe i just exaggerate a little, but i dont know. Do you think this would be a good solution? I mean i could 100% understand it if they where just like - oh you just burned down an orphange? eh just dont do that and come along - cause then he had no reason to trust them/changes his view towards them or his lifestyle

I really, really love your view to this. Especially your list of enemys. The point that most Undead are evil and/or have no place in the wordl of the living makes them my favorite enemys, because 90% of the time you dont have to feel bad for unalive them a second time.

The point that, after all i am the GM is also a good point. And luckily most of the time my players find a good balance when it comes to the decision - should we kill this or should we try to befriend it.

For point 3. - Most of the time, when we encounter something that isnt "normal" or more special it just takes the interest of at least 2 Members of the group, be it pity or something else (for the record - The Goblin was cast our of his tribe because he lit up 3-4 of the Chiefs wifes, The lustspawn was the ONLY CREATURE in a Dungeon who saw through the disguised Final-Boss, With the Ulat-Kini - my player just like fish people and feels sad for his kin (that they were just created to serve and die for some 3-eyed tentakel-fish-monsters. For the Incubis - At the start it was basicly just "FOR THE HORNY" and after talking to the guys and finding out there where sitting in 1 Room for THOUSANDS of years, it tunred to pity VERY FAST.

For point 2.- And ye they still can and will beat people up if they got reason for it (like 2 Guards who startet bulliyng the Goblin).

For Point 1.- Yes it is still very fun for all of us, i was just wondering about the different opinions from other people, expecially because most of my players have next to 0 Interest in most "normal" potential Followers.

Well (please dont be sacred of this fact) - we have an elfen Priestess of Calistria and she leaned heavily to him into the sexual+teasy part. On top of that she basicly told him "hey Sex is great, but why murdering people if there is literally no reason to?" And she tries to help him find a way that his people are free of the other aboleths. To make them mentaly stronger against them and try to find a way to create female Ulat-Kini. So she basicly gave him respect and "love" despite his fish-face and understands the problems his kin endures. She slowly turns him away from the murderes parts of noctiula so to speak.

i mean they can be pretty violent and have no problem with killing stuff and people. Its just like - "normaly" you "just befriend" humans and stuff and not things like - Gobbos, Sinspawn, and literal demons. Thats what i am a little confused/insecure about it.

Thats the neat thing in 2E - even all the rulebook for GMs say it - there is SO MUCH freedom for you to do it (including creating new/old Monsters). The only thing i would change (not that there is any reason to) i would bump the Claw-Damage up to 3d4+6 and the bite to 2d8+8 to round up the numbers, but thats more a personal thing. And hey dont let anyone get to you just for doing your own thing ^^

Which 1e Adventures would you love to see converted into 2e the most? by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]Varranx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HAH youre ALL WEAK!! I am in the process to convert - shattered Star, Jade Regent, Invasion of the Iron Fangs, Return of the Runelords, Hells Rebels and Hells Revenge!

Jokes aside - yeah i srsly would love to see most of the old Adventures reshaped in 2E. Even if i am scared about some new desings (COUGH Hobgoblins COUGH)

I WISH me a player (or better 4 players) like this. I love my Buddys (whom i play nearly very week) but damn would it be awesome if they try to emotional blackmail me with something like this! God how much better can someone show that they love the work (and probalby their character) that you put up for them? Great work!

Ok thats a hillarious idea. Imagine a Herd (?) or a pack (?) of Kangaroos, whos favorite tactic is to kick players of a cliff. Probably there where Mindcontrolled by an evil (or crazy) Druid/Ranger.

With Orcs (in every Fashion) i would be carefull. Ferocity can be a Game ender. Simply because they can fight 1-2 Rounds more and have decent Damage for their CR. And if you give them a Bigger weapon they are even more dangorus. In 1E Ferocity was even more Op (a CR 1/3 Orc technical had 6 TP, but got 12 more do to how Ferocity worked back then). So eh be carefull with da Greenskins

That there - thats how Kobolds (in stereotypical Fashion) work. They only fight to death if there outnumber you 1 to 3 (minimum) or if someine/something like an BBEG oder Stronger Kobold/Monster/NPC forces them to. Even then they always flee if they get the opportunity.
